If you have been listening to the news, the lending institutions are gearing up to help the homeowner in distress so they will not have to foreclose on these properties.  This will change our market in all probability.  If you are a prospective purchaser and have been thinking about picking up a foreclosure or two, you might want to hurry!  It seems the lending institutions will have a change of heart here and start helping out the homeowners instead of taking back the homes.  This will certainly have an effect on short sales and foreclosures and consequently bank owned properties.  Now Foreclosures, short sales and reos have been a lucrative market for some in the past few years.  We have agents who specialize in these sales.  We have companys who charge big bucks to train agents to ge...

Yes this is the "Last Call for Fall in Helen" and northeast Georgia.  From Batesville, Lake Burton, Sautee Nacoochee, Cleveland, Clarkesville, Helen to Dahlonega, you will see wonderful color from now through the weekend.  If we get rain (the weather wizards don't forecast it until Saturday) time will be cut shorter.  Right now the nice gentle greeze helps the leaves float through the air and gently settle on the ground.  This morning as i walked out just as the sun was peeking over the trees there was a stained glass effect, gorgeous hughes of red and gold looked back at me and the whole world seemed to be bathed in wonderous color.  There is no way you can look at that site and not be humbled.  Nothing is as splendid as nature.  Nature can create a masterpiece or a disaster.  Come on ...

Helen Georgia leaves are turning right on schedule.  It is beautiful today and tomorrow will be in the 70s.  It will be cooler this weekend, but nice to visit.  Last call for fall colors !  Just bring a jacket for evenings and a sweater for the days.  There are plenty of sites to see.  You can smell the clean fall air and in the evenings you smell smoke for near by fireplaces which tells you a nip is in the air.  Lots of people are building fire pits to sit by with neighbors, roast a marshmellow or two and drink some hot chocolate with the children.  You can use get to know your neighbors once you buy your vacation home to enjoy all year long in or near Helen.  Not sure what you want?  Visit www.FlynnTaylor.com and start your search.  Once you do this, you can email me from the site for...

Ok, you missed a beautiful week end in Northeast Georgia!  What a glorious day.  I actually transplanted a wild strawberry tree.  No, I don't have another name for it, it grows wild in this area, has little red berries in a strawberry shape.  The leaves are changing rapidly and I predict this week to be the peak, but I am not a weather wizard, so I may be wrong.  The maples are producing wonderful colors now.  The dogwoods are still wonderful to see, such a grand little tree, it treats us to so much, blossoms, berries and colorful foilage, with distinctive bark.  The last to turn color will be the Bradford Pear, and it is one of the first to produce blossoms in Spring. Don't miss our fall extravaganza!  Come on to Helen this week and for sure this weekend.  You too can live in this buco...

Well, is there Helen haunting?  yes and no.  Yes there will be many "haunts" to visit in Helen, but as far as I can see there are no real histories of haunted places in Helen.  You can do the research yourself, and if you find something please let me know.  I can only find the nearest "haunting" to have been in Cleveland, at the Friendship Nursing Home.  But you won't miss the fun in Helen, if you visit this weekend.  There is always plenty to do and it is still Oktober!  Friends are coming up from Florida this weekend to enjoy their second home/vacation cabin they purchased a year ago in November.  Believe it or not they missed all the beautiful fall colors and purchase a home on the Chattahoochee River on a cold, dreary, bleak day.  They have a small plane and are able to rly up from ...

If you are coming to Helen for the weekend, you will enjoy color and good weather!  The trees are turning and there are riots of color to enjoy.  Reds, Yellows, Oranges, Golds mingle with the remaining green leaves for a great display.  Looking at the Blue Ridge Mountain ranges you will see sights worthy of autumn.  Bring your camera, light jacket and a container to take home some fall leaves to display with your pumpkins for Thanksgiving.  You will need a weekend to enjoy Helen, Batesville, Sautee, Lake Burton, Cleveland and Clarkesville.  If you are fortunate enough to own a motorcycle, this weekend will be great riding weather.  The air is clean and crisp befitting the season.  Days are wonderful and the evenings full of things to do in Helen! Now once you visit you will want to come...

I do not intend this to become anything other than a reminder of our right to vote.  I personally have already voted, because I will be working at the polls on election day.  I get there at 6 am and leave who knows when and I am happy to do it.  (Yes there is a small check received for the 12plus hour day) But my point is to tell you what I see at the polls on election day.  I have seen one person who comes in a wheel chair and has not missed a vote in 3 years I have been working.  I see another who is legally blind who comes to vote, being brought by a family member.  I see one who is 97 years old who is still very bright and insists on coming to vote.  I see one who is of Native American origin and is so proud to present his Tribal Card as identification.  I see many who are veterans ...

Yes, the foilage is beautiful.  If you visit Helen, or surrounding areas of Batesville, Lake Burton, Clarkesville, Cleveland, Sautee-Nacoochee or Dahlonega, you will indeed see some beautiful colors.  Here in the Helen area, you have two more days of jacket weather  It is 10:30 am and the temp is still under 50 degrees, going up to only 57, if the weather wizards are to be believed!  The weekend will be somewhat warmer, but keep that jacket and hat in the car!   On the Chattahoochee river it is a little warmer and the trees turn a little more slowly than inland and on the highest peaks of Mt. Yonah, the photo ops are there!  I do believe this weekend and next week will be the perfect time to get some good picture of the changing season.  If you want to go on up to Batesville and Lake Bu...

Sunday is beautiful, temps will be in low 70s here in Helen, but watch out for the rest of the week, if you come to Helen, bring your jackets!  We will be in low 40s and 30s on Mon, Tues, and Weds, IF the weather wizards know what they are talking about for our area!   What does this mean besides bring your jackets?  It means you can enjoy the fireplace in the cabin you have rented for the weekend, curl up in a thick throw, read a book or just watch the leaves fall from inside!  When you are forced out for food :-} you can enjoy any of the many wonderful dining experiences Helen has to offer.  Or head on over to Clarkesville which is a change of pace.  Don't forget the Batesville area, and you can still go on up to Lake Burton if you like the Lake area.  Helen is not only a destination,...

Saturday was beautiful, the rain left early in the morning and bright skies where only dimmed by the number of leaves falling to the ground.  What a beautiful time of year in these foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  The maples are just beginning to change their colors from green to yellow, orange, gold and red.  I think most of the acorns have fallen, at least I am not hearing the bullet-like sounds all during the day and night.  And yes, my decks and driveway are covered in those acorns.  Bailey, my little lion dog has brought in a hundred of them, I think.  He loves to crack them open.  A squirrel has nothing on Bailey!  He does not eat them, but he does crack them open and leave them on the floor.  Now try to sweep off the deck and it is a game for Bailey, called kill the broom....

To all the "leaf lookers" today and tonight have been rainy.  But the weather wizards say that tomorrow will be beautiful in the Northeast Georgia Mountains and Swiss Alpine Helen!  Pack up the car and come on over to visit.  The leaves are changing and falling.  Hopefully the next two weekends will be great for the viewing and photographing the colors of fall.  We have so very many points of interest in the area, you will definitely have a difficult time choosing, if you are only coming for one day!  Gas prices have fallen and we have no gas shortage in the area now.   Don't miss the fall foilage and don't miss the wonderful german foods available in Helen.  You will also find many wonderful mom and pop eating establishments along the way.  Don't miss Yonah Burger on Hwy 75 just outsid...

Now.  Now is a good time to buy real estate in northeast Georgia.  Why?  Because you don't have as much competition for the home you like and want to purchase.  Because everyone else is shying away from making a decision until after the election.  Because people who have to relocate are willing to take less if you have a good offer.  What is a good offer?  One that does not have strings attached.  One that comes with a letter from the buyers' lender stating the buyers have their loan in place and are ready to close.  One that comes WITHOUT a house to sell before the buyer can purchase.   Then a Seller is more excited about an offer to purchase and don't feel as threatened.  A Seller feels threatened when they are not sure their house will close, because the Buyers house may not close.  ...

A good question!  A better one is "What can MY Real Estate Agent Do for Me?"   With things as they are today and so many places on line to look, so many things available to "look" at the property through Google, Google Earth, Mapquest, you name it, you may be tempted to drive by and look at everything and then contact an agent.  Well, that is okay, but not the best use of your time.  I am a full time real estate agent.  No, I have not seen every property out there, but I have seen many of them.  But if you are my Buyer Client, I save you much time and time is money!  I have a good working relationship after 18 years, with the local agents.  I can call them and ask questions and I can usually know from their answers how to proceed.  Sometimes when I call, the listing agent will tell me t...

How is the color?  Getting there is the answer!  My oaks are turning slowly, the acorns pelt the roof and deck with shotgun like retorts!  Never have I seen so many acorns fall.  The actually hurt if they happen to hit your head.  My car had to be parked in a clear area!  THe pets are becoming accustomed to the acorns raining down, but at first actually ran from the noise.  The dogwoods berries are red and beautiful.   Leaves cover the drive now, and it is beautiful.  Now is not the favorite time of year for the gardner who likes a spotless yard.  However for people like me who live in the middle of the wood and love it, it is wonderful.  I enjoy wading through those same leaves that I will have to sweep off the decks soon.  Today promises rain however, which will change things.  (After...
