The real estate market can be a confusing area for you as a consumer. News reports, be it on tv, newspaper or the radio will certainly tell you how bad things are. The problem is that it may or may not be true for you in your area. Take for example an area where I live called Sandy Springs. If you live here, own a home hear or want to buy a home here, you should find out for yourself if the market in Sandy springs is really as bad as you hear on the news. Does that mean it's perfect? Absolutely not. But, Sandy Springs homes for sale average just over $700,000 and when you look at it from a truly local per...

The newest of all of Atlanta's cities, Sandy Springs, named for the sandy spring that still runs, was incorporated in 2005.  Serviced by Georgia 400 from north to south, and I-285 from east to west, Sandy Springs is located between Buckhead to the south and Roswell to the north.  Because several Fortune 500 companies are in Sandy Springs, and because of its close proximity to Downtown, the city is experiencing tremendous residential growth. UPS, Spectrum and other well-known corporations are in Sandy Springs.  Additionally, Atlanta's biggest and best-known hospitals, Northside, St. Joseph's, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, are here.As a premier place to live and work in greater Atlanta, Sandy Springs has become one of the city's most affluent areas.  Large homes in safe and child-...

Now past its unlucky 13th year, Ghostly Gathering traditionally terrifies children of Sandy Springs. There are spooky storytellers, amazing magicians and costume contests. Ghostly Gathering scares young children silly with the Bubbling Brook and Ghostly Walk, and older children delight in dreadful predictions of the Fortune Teller and Witch. I live in a small subdivision in Sandy Springs, Princeton Square.   There are about 150 families, many with kids.  Every 4th of July they have a little breakfast party down by the pool club followed by a parade around the neighborhood. The kids decorate their bikes, scooters and wagons trying to win prizes in the various categories.I don't know who is responsible, but the Sandy Springs Fire Department sends out a firetruck that leads the parade around the neighborhood.  After the parade, the firemen usually open up a hydrant and set up a huge geyser that is great fun for the kids.Unfortunately, this year our area is experiencing a drought and there are strict watering restrictions in place.  The kids were pretty disappointed but had a blast just swimming in the pool instead.I had a nice ...

I live in Sandy Springs and I like to stay up to date with what's happening around the area.  I've seen a lot of those free neighborhood newspapers over the years but they never caught my attention much.  For some reason though, the new Sandy Springs Reporter comes across with a fresh voice that I really like.  I always look forward to the  next addition coming out.The thing that caught me by surprise was the police blotter section.  I usually can't stop laughing at some of the stuff that Lt. Steve Rose of the SSPD writes up.  There's always some extra commentary about how the perpetrator screwed up and got caught. Sometimes he adds a moral to the story. In the latest addition there was the following.A man called the police and said that he was in fear of his life, of his wife, because ...

As of earlier today, the AJC  reported that a "boil water advisory" remained in effect for a small area of Sandy Springs in Fulton County.  It is anticipated that the advisory will remain in effect until at least tomorrow morning. The problem that initially caused the advisory to all of Sandy Springs was due to a water-main valve that cut pressure to the main line serving the city of 86,000 people.  That low pressure allows for the possibility for "contaminants into the water supply," said Janet Ward, a spokeswoman for the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management.  "The advisory will be lifted only after lab tests determine that there are no contaminants remaining in the water."Watershed workers will be visiting homes in Sandy Springs today to ask for water samples, Ward said. So now that I have found the usefuleness of blogging, I have become addicted. I find myself reading other people's blogs and posting comments about their topics. I even started a new Alpharetta Real Estate Blog on a seperate domain yesterday. One would think that one blog would be enough, but, I like to be able to use each one for something a little bit different. Does anyone else use more than one blog? What do you do with your different blogs? I might start another blog just for Sandy Springs news and info. I think I might be sick!
