Unpack that Sombrero or your favorite hat as Downtown Woodstock is going "South of the Border" with a Mexican-themed Siete de Mayo party, the latest first Friday event supported by downtown merchants.  A Mariachi Band will be strolling around downtown during the event in addition to other musicians playing. Spring came a little late this year; however, summer is just around the corner.  Now is the time to spruce up those outdoor areas if you are selling your home.  The first item should be a good cleaning so all the spring pollen is washed away.  Hose down everything including all the furniture - remember you want to get rid of the yellow pollen.  If you have a concrete patio, does it need a power washing; same for wood decks?  Remove all the spider webs and dead leaves. Now celebrating its 13th season, the Woodstock Summer Concert Series kicks off on May 8 with Sister Hazel and Memory Dean.  The concerts are all free and held at the City Park- what a great place for the entire family to relax and enjoy nationally known recording artists as well as up and coming local groups. Sister Hazel is described as combining elements of acoustic rock, folk and jangle (?) pop on the Woodstock Concert Series website and has released seven albums, the most recent in 2009.  Memory Dean has been performing for 18 years and boast six successful albums among its accomplishments. It looks like the finish line is finally in site for the I-575 Rope Mill Road interchange in Woodstock GA.  According to the Cherokee Ledger, the Georgia DOT has awarded Marietta-based C.W. Mathews a $17 million contract to construct the interchange- work may begin in April but must be completed by the end of 2012.  In addition to the interchange, the project involves building auxiliary lanes between Rope Mill and Towne Lake Parkway. The new interchange should bring new life to commercial and residential development in the Ridgewalk area, which now includes only residential development.  Bill Butler of Ridgewalk Holdings LLC currently is the largest landowner, controlling 200 of the roughly 400 acres of the development.  Butler is currently working thru a Chapter 11 filing and hopes to ... 04/15/2010
