Although we bought our Hawaii house over 3 years ago, we have never participated in the Sunday Stroll at Kona's Historic Kailua Village. So, while hanging out at Kona Haven Coffee yesterday morning with the gang, this topic came up. Once a month, Ali'i Drive, where all the tourists go, is closed to traffic. Ali'i Drive parallels the ocean, dotted by small and big shops, restaurants, churches, and historic places with cultural significance. The weather was perfect for a leisurely stroll, even though August is often the hottest month in Kona. I suppose the hurricane south of us brought those late afternooon showers, too.The people in that photo above are all from Placer County in California.
