The Maui Makani Classic - (Press Release) WAILUKU, Maui, Hawai`i – The County of Maui is pleased to welcome the return of professional windsurfing to Ho`okipa Beach Park. The Maui Makani Classic kicks off on October 27 and runs until November 1st, with competition running three days out of the six day window. Aloha Friday from Ho'okipa Beach Park on Maui's north shore   Paia Maui real estate for sale ~ Oceanfront Maui real estate for sale This week the weather has been exceptional on Maui, and Sept 6th the air was so clear you could see all the outer islands  so clearly!  That's Molokai in the background of the 2nd picture. Both pictures taken at Ho'okipa Beach Park just on the outside of Paia town, on Maui's north shore.  This day they were stand up paddling at Pavillions.  Today when I drove by they were kite surfing at Lanes.  It's a great park for water sports like surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, paddling, SUP-ing, swimming, snorkeling and diving.  We are so lucky here on Maui to be blessed with near perfect weather every day. What's happening on Maui this weekend?  The Butterfly Effect With Mother's Day upon us this weekend, there's plenty of fun things to do on Maui.  If mom is into ocean sports, she just might enjoy doing something to help the community while having a fun time at the beach. The Butterfly Effect - the 5th annual event that has spawned a global water women's movement is happening again at Ho'okipa Beach Park.  Local pro windsurfer Tatiana Howard founded this FREE non-competetive event comprising a 5 mile downwind ocean adventure and beach clean up.  Female windsurfers, stand-up paddlers, kitesurfers and paddlers of all kinds are invited to come out starting at 8 am for a beach clean up and park maintenance project, followed by an oceanside yoga session to get everyone warmed up for the down... 05/06/2011
