I thought I was on an episode of HOARDERS While looking at homes for sale in Wailuku Heights with a client the other day we had an appointment to see a brand new Wailuku Heights listing .  Well not really an appointment, more like a window of opportunity/feeding frenzy, as the listing agent was letting everyone come by for one hour.  It's a court ordered sale and $499,000 is a good price for this neighborhood.  There was a small crowd of curious people.   From the outside the home looked normal, and even modest for the neighborhood.  Many homes in here are valued over $1M and it's a highly desirable area for Maui residents who are moving up in the world.  You'll find a lot of Maui professionals living here, including doctors and lawyers, pilots and accountants.   Inside the home it was... 02/06/2011

  Foreclosure Protester 2/4/2011 There was a bit of a scene at the Wailuku Foreclosure Auction on Friday the 4th of February. A protester showed up and made some relevant points and that the same time made some points that seems far from truth. The protester became louder and harassed verbally; until the Foreclosure Auctions were disturbed a total of four (4) times. For the RECORD we all have the right to freedom of expression and to protest in a “non violent” “non threatening” way. Yet in these factual matters I found myself to feel threatened, scared, and uneasy for the safety of all others, this protester just would not back down. Is it the supreme court case? Is it the Banks willingness to work out short sales and modifications. Are people filing for bankruptcy? Have people caught up with their past debts? Maui Dining - A Saigon Cafe in Wailuku is always a winner If you love good Vietnamese food in a friendly atmosphere, then you must try the Saigon Cafe in Wailuku Maui.  This restaurant has been a favorite of ours ever since some friends turned us on to it many years ago.  It's nothing fancy, and the location is a little tucked away, but it's sure worth finding this hidden treasure. The menu is extensive with plenty to please every diner, including vegetarians.  Curries and noodles, hot soups, spring rolls, seafood, meats and chicken.  So many choices and not enough room for it all!  Come hungry or go home with a doggie bag because servings are large and filling.  The wait staff are very engaging and fun, and you'll enjoy hanging out here no matter what. Wailuku Maui HI - First Friday celebrations - First Friday of 2011 Here on Maui there is a monthly event called Wailuku First Fridays, which takes place on the first Friday of every month.  This January 7th marks the first First Friday for 2011 and a lot of special happenings are in store.  It all happens in the old part of Wailuku, centered on N. Market street by the old historic Iao Theater.  Shops and restaurants offer specials, and there's usually some live music or entertainment.  It's open to the public and there's no entry fee, just show up.
