AREAA Aloha Chapter was graciously hosted by Leona Wilson at her private estate and given a wonderful tour and some history about the island and all the conservation work she is doing for the KOA trees. I hear it a lot from prospective buyers... I just want a little shack in the jungle on Maui.  Nothing fancy, just a roof over my head.  With some land to grow some veggies, and a few fruit trees.  Maybe a stream would be nice too...Plantation style home with jungle foliageWell it's not that easy to find, but be prepared to pay $400,000 or more it you do. I've been hearing a lot about the Mill House Restaurant at Maui Tropical Plantation, so pulled in the other day while driving by.  I wasn't hungry enough to eat but I was curious to see what they have done by way of incorporating some old sugar mill features into their landscape.  What a surprise to see the creative use of some old huge gears and other interesting machinery.  How did they ever come up with this?  What a great way to preserve a little bit of Maui's history.One of these days I'll stop in for a lunch or dinner and get the full experience.  They specialize in "farm to table" by sourcing a lot of their ingredients right here at the plantation farm, and other local farms.  From the reviews I've been reading on Yelp, it sounds like the food will be delicious, and the service i... 09/08/2016

Crispy Roast Duck at Wei Wei BBQ and Noodle House, Wailuku MauiIn honor of Chinese New Year this week, and for lack of anything more fitting, here's a picture of the beautiful roast duck with crispy skin, at Wei Wei BBQ & Noodle House in Wailuku.
