A few days ago our local newspaper, the Quad City Times, reported on a story pertaining to future green construction in one of the fastest growing parts of Bettendorf, IA. It was said that members of the Quad City Home Builders Association (QCHBA) were going to donate their time and provide materials at cost for the construction of a 1900sf ranch built to the Silver Award level set forth by the National Association of Home Builders. Ryan Windmiller of Aspen Homes was chosen to oversee ("general") the project. What they didn't elaborate on was what the specific level(s) entailed. The 2008 Bettendorf 4th of July was a blast.  The event was held at Cumberland Square in Bettendorf, IA.  The weather was 80 degrees with a slight breeze.  There were lots of arts and crafts, kids rides, and a wide selection of food.  There was music on both sides of the midway with the beer tents in the middle.  Wow!!!  The somewhat large crowd increased even more around dark to await the fireworks.  No one was dissapointed.  The show was something to remember. NEW LOCATION FOR BETTENDORF'S 4TH OF JULY FESTIVAL   This year's 4th of July Festival will be held along Spruce Hills Drive in front of Cumberland Square.   Beginning Thursday, July 3, Spruce Hills Drive will be closed from 18th Street to the Cumberland Square driveway.   Steve's Meat Shop will be cooking again this year for the 4th of July Festival. Opening ceremonies begin at Noon.  Samantha Pauly from Pleasant Valley High School will sing the National Anthem. Quad City Skydiving Center's Parachute Team will have shows throughout the day, including an evening show before the fireworks. REALTOR-assisted "Closed" single-family home sales in the city of Bettendorf, Iowa decreased by 4.6% through the first three quarters of 2007, down from the same period in 2006.
