Mortgage Rate LocksBecome Crucial   An interest rate lock is always a good idea in any market. But it becomes a better idea when it's crucial to lock in an interest rate and other loan costs at a level you can afford.       A changing market -- especially when the change is for the worst -- is one of those crucial times. During the first half of 2008, nearly a full percentage point separated the high of 6.45 percent in recent weeks and the low of 5.48 percent in January, according to Freddie Mac.       Get off the interest rate elevator ride with an interest rate lock.   Seems like only yesterday...... Comments made in Davenport, Iowa in the year 1955:  That's only 53 years ago! "Have you seen the new cars coming out next year?  It won't be long before $2000 will only buy a used one!" "I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20!" "Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?" "If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit.  A quarter a pack is ridiculous!" "If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store!"  "When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage!" "Kids today are im...

Do you need an Expert to Find out what type of Paint to Use? The answer in most cases is yes. First off are you painting inside or outside?  Exterior or Interior. How is the weather in the area where you live?  Paint that is resistant to extreme hot or cold. What type of color are you using?  This will decide what type of base you will need to mix. And for interior walls how shiny do you want your walls?  Flat, Semi-Gloss, Satin, and Gloss. And try to be consistant. Good Luck!!!

How Significant is it to Look Professional all the Time? We live in a small community where everyone pretty much knows each other.  There is no way that I can be in Realtor gear all of the time.  How can you generalize your wardrobe and still be comfortable?  I changed to a quality company tee-shirt to be a walking company ad.  Is this out of line?

We are small independent brokers in the West Quad Cities Iowa Area.  The market for the first two quarters of 2008 have been very slow.  The few so-called buyers that we had could not get approved for what they need in a home.  The buyers would not settle and the sellers would not come down in price until now.  We have six contracts this month and are looking at a few more to seal the deal.  Thank God for FHA.  Not Successful but out of the Red.

Propane is the best way to go when outdoor grilling.  Coal is dirty and hard to regulate.  Coal also leaves a mess while and after cooking.  Propane gas is easy to regulate as long as the regulators are connected to the tanks and working properly.  Don't forget to strap the tanks in tight for no accidents.  Have fun grilling.  What say you?

They both have their advantages and faults.  Advantages Electronic lockboxes : 1.  Hard to Steal. 2.  knowledge of what Realtors have keyed in. 3.  Easy to disable. Faults Electronic Lockboxes: 1.  When you live in btwn two Association one group of Realtors will not have the ability to key in. 2.  Have to drive to the association to use or buy them. 3.  They are expensive. Advantages Combo Boxes: 1.  They are cheap. 2.  Anyone can use them with the right code. 3.  Kept at the office. Faults Combo Boxes: 1.  After you give out the code you lose control over who has been inside and how many times. 2.  Easy to Steal. 3.  They freeze up in the Winter.

Stephen Thomas Fowler (AKA Son) is normally a happy go lucky kinda child.  When he received his customized Lightning McQueen quilt made by a very close friend he went crazy.  This quilt became his new best friend after blank blue.  It must be all the bright colors or maybe because he has seen the movie a thousand+ times.

Save Money Through Farming!!! Who wants to sell?  Who is content in where they live?  Who is losing their home?  Who needs to relocate?  Who is a tenant?  Who is an owner occupant? Know your neighborhood by investigation.  Have a title company pull up a 3 to 6 line farm list.  Most of the time the lists are FREE.  They make it easy for you to distinguish from the people who are most likely to sell their homes sooner rather than later.  They tell you how long a person has owned the property, how much they bought it for, and if there is a tenant or owner in the dwelling. If anything, farming helps you become knowledgable about the community that you are working. You can also send out the right flyers to the right people!!!

Why do most jars say refrigerate after opening? I believe that the contents of a jar are normally either lower than the PH level 5 or higher than the PH level 9.  Almost all bacteria grows within a PH range of 5 to 9 on a scale of 1 being Hydroclouric Acid to 14 which is the same as Bleach. So why do we have to refrigerate the jars after opening? For example a jar of Mayonaise is being used to be put on a Tunafish Sandwich.  First you open the jar and put the spoon in and take out some Mayo so you can mix it with your Tunafish.  You then notice that you need more Mayo so you stick the mixing spoon back into to jar to get more Mayo.  That is called double dipping.  You have now contaminated your Mayo with Tunafish that bacteria can grow in.  So the only way to slow down the process of ba...

Buyers in the Quad Cities Real Estate Area are ready and willing to purchase homes but leary of the lag in the market.  Will the QCA follow the rest of the agressive areas of the country and go down or stay traditionally conservative?  Lately with the buyers market the showings for listings in the QCA are few and far btwn.  When you show a home in the QCA the buyer expects the property to be in atleast working condition.  With the surge in short sales and foreclosures the number of listings in poor condition are climbing.  I showed a client 4 properties today with 2 of them being in poor condition.  We need to have better pictures or lower prices.  I don't know what some listing agents are thinking.
