  Mount Pleasant Main Street Trick or Treat Night On October 28th Mt. Pleasant, Iowa will turn it’s Main Street Businesses into a Halloween Blvd.  The Trick and Treat Night allows children and their families to visit the businesses on Main Street.  This event will be held from 5-7pm. What a great way for businesses to actively be part of the community and for the young at heart to practice for the big night of Oct. 31st.   Exit Land and Home Realty would love to see you, come by and see what we are for Halloween! Exit Land and Home plans for a busy week! We are starting the week by getting a new reflective 4 x 5 foot sign up, made by Signs and Design in Mount Pleasant. Then we are having a gentleman from the Hawkeye Newspaper    come to interview myself, Maria White, and my husband, Rod White, for a feature article in the Sunday paper.  Also, a meeting for our area Association of Realtors on Tuesday evening.  Thursday we will host a ribbon cutting ceremony in conjunction with the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce  .  We will have a dessert and drink for all of those who attend. This will be in the Mt. Pleasant News on Friday. As the month of August has brought the end of summer fun for the school kids... It is back to grind stone!  With some schools in session in Southeast Iowa, the parents, teachers and kids are wondering where the summer went to?  With the school bells ringing on Monday in Mount Pleasant the kids are all thinking of the instant break that they get from the trains, trolleys and steam engines that will be blowing on Labor Day weekend. MP is hosting the 60th Annual Midwest Old Threshers.  From the church tents homemade food to the good old fashioned bank roberies, we are very excited for this time of year.  The small town of Mount Pleasant becomes a hub for antique cars to a replay of a log village for a 5 day period.  The smells of freshly dipped carmel apples and fresh turkey tenderloins gr... 08/19/2010

Our soldiers make us proud to be part of this great USA.  As I walked in MPCHS this morning, I could feel the atmosphere changing.  The raw pride of veterans...who have been there, to the sadness of families that will go without their loved ones for such a long time, to the dignity of the soldiers dedicated in assisting this great nation.  The gym was filled with emotions.  I looked around seeing so many faces I knew and thinking of how each and every one of them will be affected by this send off.  Some of these men are headed back for the 3rd and 4th time. AMAZING!  I feel spoiled.  Honestly, it takes me to a time while we were at the Olympics in Sydney, Australia, and my husband stood on the podium to accept a medal on behalf of his country. WOW! So with out all the great Mom's out there where would we be? .....in my opinion, my mother has been instrumental to what paths I have chosen throughout my life.  Thanks MOM!  What a great day to be surrounded by the ones you love! With 3 children under the age of 10, I get to enjoy such wonderful life experiences daily.  We work so hard to be successful so that the ones we love have support in all the things they do.  It's even better to truly enjoy your occupation, while earning a living.  At the end of the day we are blessed with the opportunities that we are given, and for the opportunities that pass we may learn and try to catch them next time around.  So to all those hard working Moms out there..... As a newer agent in SE Iowa, I am continually trying to find ways to get new listings.  Whether it is cold calling or looking over expired listings, I'm willing to give it a shot.  I recently found an expired listing, contacted the seller and ended up getting the listing.  With a frustrated seller, I started working on getting the property on all of the online platforms that are avilable to us at LandandGame.  It has been 35 days and the property has an accepted cash offer, because of the online advertising.  Let me make a note.... that the local real estate office has had this listing for 2 years.  This is a perfect example of why it is so important to know where your advertising is best spent.  The quick sale is because of the extensive national rural networking, outside-the-box socia... 05/05/2010

The value of real estate is Southeast Iowa is unsustainable during the spring time.  WOW! There is nothing better than heading over the hill on a spring afternoon to go pick morel mushrooms on your own property.   My family and I have truly enjoyed the few weeks in April that you can pick the wonderful morsels that nature provides.   We've grown up whistling when we find a mushroom, just a fun way to know who found the biggest patch!  You better watch out though, kids tend to put on their running shoes when they hear those whistles!  A true joy to you can hear the giggling as the kids are picking as fast as they can.  When the gathering is complete it is time to head to the kitchen, because your taste buds are ready to explode.  Especially, when it has been an entire year since you stu... 04/30/2010
