Good news for home seller is Post Falls, Idaho.   The good news is that single family home sales in Post Falls in the last 12 months are up 10% over the previous 12 months.  The average sales price is up 6% over the previous time frame.  Coeur d’Alene and Hayden are about the same.  Our rural areas in the county have yet to show this positive result. The interesting fact in the data is that Foreclosures “REO’S” have dropped overall in our area 13% in the last 12 months. Now that is being offset by the increase in short sales.  Why you ask well I believe that there are 3 reasons.  First the Banks are actually realizing that it costs them less money to do a short sale and they are handling a short sale better and secondly we are able as Realtors to give the consumers better information. “Give Hunger the Bird”!  Post Falls Food Bank fundraiser was a great success on Saturday!  The final dollar amount will not be in until Friday and Sherry Wallis director of the Post Falls Food Bank wants to thank everyone who participated.    The generosity of this community is just unbelievable she says.  So far this year the Post Falls Food Bank has distributed over 1.3 million pounds of food to people in our community in need.   There still is a huge need with over 1075 families registered for help with Thanksgiving Dinner.  You can donate food or write a check and if you write a check Sherry says with her buying power she can double and sometimes triple the amount of food with these dollars.   You can call the Post Falls Food Bank at 208 773-0139 to see how you can help.   Patsy Bar... 11/13/2012

The Pacific Northwest may finally getting back to normal temperatures and fall weather.  Just a couple of days ago the temperature was in the 60’s with beautiful skies and did not seem like November weather at all.  But now the forecast says that by Friday morning we may have several inches of snow and the temperature is really dropping.  The high for Friday is in the low 30’s.  What a difference a couple of days make.  But everyone is getting excited to ski and around here the hope is that the ski areas will be open for the day after Thanksgiving skiing.  I on the other hand love snow in the mountains but like to drive on the roads without the snow and ice.  So far this year we have has an amazing fall with very little rain or fog, and warmer then normal temperatures, so as I have said... 11/08/2012

Today I got a message from a short sale client of mine.  She wants to cancel the purchase agreement on her home and cancel the listing.  Normally that kind of a message wouldn't be good news, but this time it is hard not to find some joy in the message.  You see, when we started the short sale process she was in default on her mortgage and unemployed.  She was discouraged at her inability to find a job and depressed about losing her home.  To make a long story short, she found a job and is one of the fortunate few who gets approved for a modification at terms they can live with.  She gets to keep her house!  How in the world can I not be happy for that?  I am not looking forward to breaking the news to the buyers' agent in the morning, but the good news is that these buyers have only be... 11/07/2012

If you drive I90 from Spokane to Coeur d’Alenetoday you may be delayed but it is all in the name of progress.  Beck Road Interchange is moving forward here in Post Falls and it is expected that that the ramps will be done in time for the new Interchange to be open for Black Friday Shopping at Cabela’s and Walmart.  I am looking forward to seeing new businesses come to the area and as now everyone seems to be keeping the names very quiet but as soon as I know I will be sharing.  So keep watching for the news.
