Buffalo Grove rental insurance- Don't delay if you are renting a home.  As the number of Buffalo Grove residents renting homes dramatically increases, new survey released today by Allstate finds most Illinois renters are inadequately prepared to protect homes and belongings. Although homeowners coverage is required as a part of most mortgages, the approximate 1.2 million Illinois residents who rent their homes face no such insurance requirement. Without that requirement, just over half of Illinois renters (51 percent) report they have renter's insurance to cover their property in case of loss.   In my opinion, if a disaster strikes, whether a fire, robbery or other tragedy, you will be devasted enough and won't want to worry about replacing your belongings.  In addition to purchasing th...

Yesterday was a busy day in the News on Foreclosures.  To no surprise the Banks have not been following the correct procedure when it come to foreclosing loans for Homeowners as posted yesterday on  Yahoo News.  Below are several statements from that article. Evictions are expected to slow sharply, housing analysts said, as state and national law enforcement officials shine a light on questionable foreclosure methods revealed by two of the country biggest home lenders in the last two weeks. Even lenders with no known problems are expected to approach defaulting homeowner more cautiously and look more aggressively for resolutions short of outright eviction. Despite the turmoil, some economists said the breakdown could ultimately lay the groundwork for a real estate recovery. Stricken nei...

Didier Farms and a Reflection of Autumns Past by a Long Grove Mom I love Didier Farms.  Every time I pass by Didier Farms I have many fond memories of when my children were young and they had the best time getting lost in the maze or finding the biggest and best pumpkin after the hayride tractor dropped us off in the fields. When Didier Farms closes in the fall on Halloween, it is a sad reminder that winter is fast approaching. This year, there are many differnet admission options designed for the busy lifestyle of today's families:  Weekdays: 1) Between the hours of 9am - noon:  $8 Admission Fee (children and adults) for unlimited hayrides, the petting zoo, the Cornmaze and the Strawmaze. 2.) OR Between the time 9am -noon:  $12.00 Admission Fee for the above activites PLUS unlimited po...

Yesterday was the first day of fall with the leaves blowing everywhere, and all the beautiful colors beginning to change.  While Buffalo Grove home owners may not care for the clean up, the kids love this time of year.  It is the beginning of the countdown to Halloween.  Didier Farms is located off Aptakisic Road in Buffalo Grove and has been a favorite for kids and adults for many years.  They have the best Halloween activities arround and in fact many schools have daily field trips to the farm this time of year.  Last year my grandaughters school in Evanston came to this magical place in Buffalo Grove for a visit.  Please note the schedule of events and make sure to visit and stop by the Farmstand as well.  Oh by the way, you can get great fresh food for lunch as well.              ...

Come Visit the Buffalo Grove Fire Department on Saturday, Sept. 25th for a Close-Up Look at a Day in the Life of a Firefighter For all the little boys and girls in Buffalo Grove (and some of the big boys and girls as well) who have ever pretended to be a firefighter, this weekend is for you.  On Saturday, Sept. 25th, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department is holding their annual Fire Department Open House.  My kids and I have attended this event for the past two years, and I can tell you it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. My son was immediately taken in by the ride on the fire truck.  The line is a bit long, but absolutely worth the wait.  My daughter was even allowed to ride up in the cab with the driver and my son rang the bell!  There is a junior firefighter challenge, helico...

As a dedicated Buffalo Grove real estate professional, I love to share with my clients many different real strategies on how to sell their home for the most money in the least amount time.   Assume you are contemplating listing your Buffalo Grove home  next year in early February, one of the most popular times my clients call me when they make the decision to sell their home.  Imagine what the marketing photos of their home would look like at that time of year.  If you live in  the Chicago's suburbs, the curb appeal would be pretty bleak- it  would either include dirty snow or ugly barren trees.  (Sometimes not a pretty site and one that does not make a good first impression.)  Plan Ahead... If you are planning to sell your Buffalo Grove home  next spring or even if you are not planning...

The Buffalo Grove Real Estate Market is holding strong through August of 2010. From this time last year home sales are up 28.6% from 133 homes sold to 171 for Buffalo Grove Single Family Homes. Homes sales are up 26.1% from 115 homes sold to 145 for Buffalo Grove Townhomes and Condos. This is good news for sellers and buyers. With a medium sales price increase of 11.2% on detached homes sellers are getting more for their homes in 2010 than in 2009. Buyers can still take advantage of lower home sales prices, as they are still down from 5 years ago. Attached homes are down 11.1% for median sales prices. Townhomes and condos in the area are taking the biggest hit because these units have the highest amount of short sales and foreclosures.

Buffalo Grove real estate market...  How is the Buffalo Grove real estate market doing? August is usually the time of increased real estate sales, because parents of school age children want to close prior to the beginning of the school year.  Whether or not this is the reason, the Buffalo Grove real estate market in August fared well and I'm happy to report the good news.  47 Buffalo Grove homes were closed in July, compared to 30 in June  and the average Buffalo Grovfe selling price increased in one month  from  to $344,301 to $350,487.   Last year in August,  only Buffalo Grove 30 homes were sold at a average price of $331,814 .  The Buffalo Grove market is definately do better than last year and its very refreshing news for the Buffalo Grove homeowners.  Is it time for you to consid...

Stevenson High School Football. I love Stevenson High School Football!  My eldest son  graduated from  Stevenson High School last May and my two younger sons are freshman at Stevenson.      Although none of my children will be ever be football players, our family has  consistently supported the Stevenson High School football games.  Since the time  my eldest son was 3 years old, we have loved attending the games.  The Stevenson High School football games are so much fun to watch, at times very exciting, and a great way to spend a Friday night.  You would be surprised how many of your neighbors come watch these high spirited games. This weekend I attended the Varsity Stevenson High football game on Friday night which was a blow out against Highland Park (42-7).  Additionally  since my fr...
