CONSUMER UPDATE:  Last night I'm winding up my day and I get a call from my electrician (known to me as "my sparky") telling me I have a live line gas feed into the dining room ceiling fixture but better yet, along with the live line I also have cloth wiring - which is good and I'll tell you why in a few seconds, along with the rubber coated wiring that was done about 15 years ago.  This emergency call to me was about "Barbie, how in the blue blazes am I going to get the wire out of the ceiling when it is attached to a live gas line?"  So, last night I'm in the dark with my sparky looking at the fused wires, the line and thinking to myself ..... all because nobody understands that a tar roof is more dangerous then we know. Good Morning, Gang!  Hope things are groovy where you are today! Let's think Old School for a minute.  Specifically, those Old, Classic Movie Palaces, built in the 1920's, in local neighborhoods throughout big city America.  They brought glitz and glamor to these in-town locations. As we all know, for most of the old, grand Movie Palaces, the wrecking ball has already come and gone.  Only a few remain. In Chicago, only The Oriental on Randolph Street, The Chicago on State Street, and The Schubert on Monroe, remain - although as legitimate theatres and concert venues, rather than old-time movie houses. SHORT SALES-look I'm blogging Are Short Sales ever going away??  The answer in NO ! notice I used capital letters?  I have been asked by different people as to what is needed from the owner when doing a Short Sale.  Well lets start from the begining.  Once you determined that the subject property is a good canditate for doing a short sale then you proceed.  I think that the most important thing is to CALL the bank and find out if they have a SHORT SALE PACKAGE.  There a quite a few documents needed before submitted a Short Sale package I have a folder system that has been working pretty good so far.  You need one for the listing info and one for the short sale documents.  Well, this works for me.  You ask what goes in what? or what exactly is needed?  From your client you need the follo... 07/27/2008

Most people are conscientious about having their furnace cleaned, however, very few people think of clothes dryer in relation to fire prevention. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports an estimated annual 15,500 fires, some resulting in deaths and injuries, due to clothes dryer fires. Besides fire, improper dryer venting also poses a carbon monoxide risk.  These accidents can be prevented with properly installed and maintained dryer venting.    A clothes dryer fire occurs when lint accumulates restricting airflow which then leads to overheating.  The heat and the combustible lint are the main ingredients for a clothes dryer fire.  Dryers produce a lot of lint and simply cleaning the lint screen is not enough.  The lint screen catches most of the lint, but some ends up under... 07/26/2008

Here is Grand Central Station.  This is hard to believe.  I grew up as a youngster in Chicago.  I lived on the near North Side as it was...more affectionately called Old Town.  I was only a few blocks from the Lincoln Park zoo.  As a kid I was able to see the largest gorilla in captivity at the time....Bushman.  He is now on display in the Science and Industry musiem by Soldier's Field. Of course as many know it does not look like this any more...but just the same very interesting.                                       Here is a hospital, Augustana.  I had never heard of this hospital and the card does not lend a clue to the location.  Reminds me of an old movie building they would show.  Even has a little resembalence to Times Square in New York in the old days.
