Bald Eagles visit Elgin so I went to ogle them! It was a rare event we had in this area right after some extremely warm weather the bald eagles came down along the Fox River that flows through Elgin.  Since the river was no longer frozen it was a complete fishing expedition for the eagles.  On the day I was there last week it was absolutely freezing!  The Elgin Library was gracious enough to be a warming area if you wanted to go inside.  The wind and cold just flew down that frozen water!  I was prepared as best as I could and actually stayed longer than the 2 other ladies that were also there! What I thought was great was even though you maybe couldn't see them well - you could hear them.  Follow the 'screech' to the area in the trees and there they were.  Sorry that I couldn't get any... 01/22/2011

Suburban filming locations for the fall 2011 thriller “Contagion" are spreading like the virus outbreak in the movie itself.Warner Bros. officials have inked deals to shoot scenes in the old Sherman Hospital in Elgin and outside a high school in Yorkville, and they have inquired about filming at a school, private residence and funeral home in Wilmette.It is about a virus outbreak that starts in Hong Kong and finds its way to Chicago. Elgin Illinois Real Estate - Monthly Market Report Whilst Elgin Illinois is not an area I sell a lot of real estate I do on occassions. My most recent was renting 2695 Colonial Drive, Elgin Illinois to a very happy family relocating from Florida. My clients had a big family but their budget would not find a big enough home in Barrington so off to Elgin Illinois we went. Elgin Illinois sells many homes every year. In the last 12 months Elgin Illinois Real Estate sales totaled 1054. Of those sales 825 were single family homes and 229 were either condos or towhomes. There is a large amount of inventory thruout the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago which include Elgin IL homes.  Sellers are competing to make their home standout and enhance their marketability.  Prices have held between 4 to 6% from the listing price over the recent months. Here is a chart of the ACTIVE Single Family Elgin IL homes by price range with the market times posted as 'average days on the market.'
