We’ve been in our new house for a little over 4 years now.  In that time we’ve landscaped the yard, painted all of the rooms, installed a fence, decorated, re-decorated, cleaned, cluttered and de-cluttered … and then it happened.  My husband started finishing the basement. It’s bad enough when your husband leaves for work before the sun comes up, and comes home long after it’s disappeared… but I had become a weekend widow to the cement walls beneath our happy home. Sixty-one homes closed in Plainfield, IL in the month of March, 2009.  The lowest being a foreclosure that sold for $80,000.  The highest priced home sold for $540,000. Compare in March of 2008 when seventy homes sold. The lowest sold for $130,000 and the highest sold for $526,000. As you can see, the numbers are very similiar. As anyone who has been living in Plainfield IL for the last year knows, the downtown area has recently been renovated.  Unfortunately, that meant avoiding the area for quite some time.  About 2 months ago, my car needed some work so I took it up to Plainfield Automotive Inc. on Rt. 59.
