What a difference a year can make. In 2005 the new homes market in South Overland Park was booming, most builders carried an inventory of 5-10 spec homes (homes built on speculation) knowing that the home would sell before completion or within a very short period there after. Well in 2006 as we all know the market hit the skids, new home sales plummeted and new home construction came to a screeching halt.  That year is making a difference again but in a good way. New homes construction bottomed out at the end of 2011 and the begining of 2012. While there were over 14,000 new homes built in 2005, only a little over 2000 were built in 2011. 2012 will go down as a defining year for Overland Park real estate, it will be the year where the market finally stabilized and the pieces of a shattered housing market were put back together and Hampton Place was one of those subdivisions that helped lead the way.
