Hey and welcome to my blog!  I just want to talk today about why my hometown, Berea, KY, is such a great place to live, work and raise a family.  I have lived in Berea since I was 14 and was born and raised in Madison County.  There is not another place anywhere that I would want to call home!  We have beautiful mountain views, great rivers and lakes, rolling countryside and the friendliest neighbors around! Come visit us during our craft festivals throughout the year,or attend our famous Spoonbread festival every year in September.  Stay awhile in our many wonderful hotels, lodges and bed and breakfasts, and for a real treat stay a night in the newly remodeled and now 4 star rated historic Boone Tavern Inn and restaurant.  What a treat to stay in this beautiful place with so much histo...

Berea Rain Barrel Festival - Berea Kentucky Last year's drought in Central Kentucky really did a number on some of my trees and shrubs. Even if you did get to water them, the chlorinated stuff you get out of the end of the water hose didn't help plants grow...merely kept them alive. A rain barrel is the answer to the watering problem. Keep your own rain water...it's free! Not only will it save you money, but when there are watering restrictions you will be able to ignore them! In one of last year's newsletters, I wrote about installing a rain barrel  on your house. Here's another chance for you to get one this year.  The 2008 Berea Rain Festival  on April 26 from 11am - 4pm will have 55 hand painted rain barrels by Kentucky artists for sale in a silent auction. Unpainted rain barrels wil...

Putting your home up for sale can be a scary thought. I'm a seasoned real estate agent and broker and I understand how unsettling it can be. I did it a few years ago myself. A good approach to sell your home is to step back, put your emotions aside and look at your home as a buyer would. Nothing turns off a potential buyer faster than peeling paint, damaged front steps and so on. So it makes sense to make repairs before you put your home on the market. A home in good condition is one of your best selling tools. Fix any drains, faucets or plumbing fixtures, replace burned out bulbs or broken electrical outlets or faceplates. Fix doors that don't open easy including your garage door and repair, replace or remove the garage door opener. Replace cracked windows or torn screens, repair damag...

Fall is a great time of year in this area, this is a picture of a downtown church with the explosion of color going on around here. Tonight is Halloween in The Park where local merchants set up and kids can Trick or Treat in safety, take a ride on a fire truck with the siren sounding off and make fun of their friends and neighbors in their costumes. Berea is truly a fun close knit community, stop by sometime. Exit 76 or 77 on  I 75 in Kentucky.
