It was a busy day last Friday. My closing was planned for 12:00PM and I was so happy for my friend that was selling her house in Richmond KY. It was the second closing of a three house deal. Now that took some juggling for the deals and the three families involved. So far no unscheduled delays at all.  Almost at the same time, the elephants were scheduled to arrive in Lexington KY with the Ringling Bros. Barnum Bailey Circus train. Once unloaded, they were going to be paraded around Triangle Park and fans would have a chance to get close to them. I was daydreaming about elephants as the final papers were being signed, keys and garage door remote exchanged with the new buyers. I was so thrilled for my friend. The other day, when I was walking from Woodland Art Fair near downtown Lexington KY, I ran into a fellow that was letting his miniature horse eat grass near the street in Ashland Park. Her name was Darleigh and she was so sweet. Darleigh lives at this couple's house (in the back yard or in the house)and pretty much does what she wants. She was really enjoying the lush clover They had a silver trailer in the driveway to take her to hospitals so children can enjoy her too. Like a therapy horse. I can only imaging the smiles she brings to those children that are having to stay at the hospital. Vintage Beetlejuice Doll Unearthed In Ashland Park - Chevy Chase Yard Sale in Lexington KY 40502 So while I was out roaming around in downtown Lexington KY this past weekend, I ran across a yard sale in the Ashland Park and Chevy Chase area.  This yard sale was one put on by Lucy of A La Lucie fame. Plenty of wild and crazy stuff to uncover and buy. I sadly happened to be there without cash or checks so all I could do was take pictures. There are so many photo opportunities all around me here in Lexington KY. It's good to keep the battery charged on my camera and have it in the car. The Boss - Bruce Springsteen Sighting at The Kentucky Horse Park - Lexington KY As events are on schedule for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games there are also smaller events taking place that are attracting superstars for a visit. Bruce Springsteenand his wife Patti were spotted by two of my favorite clients Cindy and Cazz Kamps. Once they got over the shock of seeing them so close, they actually did get an autograph. Woodland Art Fair Lexington KY For 35 years, art lovers have been flocking to Woodland Park near Chevy Chase and Ashland Park for the annual arts fair. August 21 & 22. The park is nestled in the heart of Lexington, KY sheltered by ancient trees and Bluegrass Trust homes line many of the historic streets. Two hundred juried artists participated in this two day event held under a cool canopy of stately trees. White tents were scattered throughout the park displaying their wares. Whew.  Monday my sellers just closed on a listing that we got under contract on January 1st of this year.  I'm exhausted.  I'm sure there are many rants and raves on here about short sales and BOA, guess I'm just adding to the pile. We worked with a 3rd party loss mitigation company that BOA hired to 'manage' the short sale.  Not sure they had much control either or made things any better. Ready, willing, and able buyer....Does that mean anything to you??? Great buyer's agent on the other side (THANKS Desi!).  Patient, smart, flexible, did I say patient?, good communicator. Just the type of agent you want on the other side.  A true professional. Ramsey's Weather Forecasting Stone - Lexington KY I love to have lunch at Ramsey's in Lexington KY. My usual location is the one near Woodland Park. I had taken my assistant, Jane to lunch and as we sat out on the patio we noticed this sign. Today the stone would be wet. Lots of rain today. Also the food at Ramsey's is down home good. My favorite meal here is the vegetable plate with creamed corn, fried green tomatoes, creamy cole slaw and kale. YUM! Everything is fresh from the garden and you can't beat the prices or the friendliness of the staff. Be sure to get the Ramsey's sweet tea too. I really got chewed out good during my Lexington Kentucky Home Inspection yesterday afternoon.   Seems that I was interrupting Mama Robin who was busy feeding her three hungry baby Robins when I came around the corner and interrupted the feeding session.  Nether Mama or the three hungry babies cared much for my presence in their neighborhood and they made sure I knew about it. I hung around just long enough to get a good picture, inspect the area as necessary, and then got away from there before Mama got irritated enough to buzz me and disturb my "perfect hair" or more sensitive body parts :) . Clarification:  The nest was only about five feet of the ground in a bush at the corner of the house.   07/27/2010

Don't Throw Out That Sexy Pink Refrigerator! Ahhhh... "those were the good old days," my Mom and Dad used to say. I can well remember the story of an old Sears refrigerator that they carted all over Wyoming to Laredo Texas when my Dad was in the Air Force back in the 50's. Then they packed it to Richmond, Kentucky and used it for years. Later, it was installed in a apartment and it might still be there! It's over 50 years old! They don't make them like they used to! I was up for the task when a friend mentioned the ugly pink refrigerator in an apartment they bought at auction and were renovating. "Let me see it... I need a picture of it's ugliness for my story!" Here in Lexington we have a Starbucks where the management has thoughtfully planted Blackeyed Susans for those of us who use the drive-thru.  I don't know if they realized that their flowers would be only part of the show for us. If I hadn't looked down at the beautiful flowers at the drive-thru; If the flowers hadn't been found by this little bird; I would have simply bought my coffee and moved on down the road.  Instead, I got to watch this little guy enjoying his feast of seeds, and it made my day so much brighter. Lexington KY Home For Sale - But No Takers Until this past year in Kentucky, it was easy to get houses sold for a good price. There were even multiple offers everywhere! Yes, we Realtors(R) were almost order takers! Ahhhh...life was good!
