Anyone who likes cars shouldn't miss this.  At the Harbor Center located near Eden Isles in Slidell Louisiana.  This will be an indoor event.  Good thing given the July heat around here.  There will be rock climbing and spacewalks for the children.  The late Al Copelands collection will be on hand.  Anyone who has driven by his old warehouse on the I-10 has seen some of his old toys.  For further information go to www.scccustoms.com.

My turn to tell everyone Happy Fourth and hope you have a good holiday.  No traveling for me this year.  I hope to take the family to Heritage Park in Slidell.  They usually put on a pretty good show.  I hope the rain holds off tonight.  Well thats about it for me today.  You know I actually had an agent show one of my listings today.  Maybe it will be a really great Fourth.

Louisiana actually has the best tax credit in the nation to those who wish to cut their hot water heating costs.  A system costs about $6000 and you will get a 50% tax credit from the state.  Example, if you owe the state a $1000 you will get a tax refund of $2000.  The federal laws aren't as sweet.  They have a 30% credit.  If you owe $600 in taxes you will owe zero.  You get six more years to recieve the other $1200 in credits from the federal government. I still think the best way os a tankless hot water heater.  Cost maybe $300 to $400 to install.  No ugly unsightly solar panels on ones roof.  Also they have a lifetime guarantee.  The replacement for solar is much more expensive.  Any one looking to sell or buy in Slidell La. should give me a call.

Those of you living in Southern Louisiana know what a hurricane can do to our homes and lifestyles.  The state of Louisiana has a web site to help make leaving a little easier.  Go to www.makeaplan.org for more information.  The season started just yesterday, and we have a way to go before the all clear is sounded this year.  I hope and pray that it is another quiet year for us.

Yesterday I wrote about a blood drive being held later this month at the Ocshner Clinic in Slidell near Cross Gates Subdivision.  Today I have a similar theme in mind, but a different method.  On may 17 there will be a bone marrow registry at Our Lady of Lourdes which is located in Westchester Estates in Slidell Louisiana.  This will be a free event.  This usually costs about $50 to do this.  The test takes about 15 seconds and is painless.  All they do is swab the inside of your cheek to get a good dna sample.  It takes over 2.5 million samples to find one match.  There are over 6000 people in need of a bone marrow transplant.  For more information call Anne Pugh at 504-628-2856 or 985-246-7980.  Imagine your young child or someone you love in need of this procedure.

Fishing on the extreme Northern shoreline has been productive the last couple of weeks.  With the opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway on April 11, the saltwater species have been forced to the edge of the lake.  I caught 12 the last two days.  Not many but, you should have seen the size of these trout.  We had five that were over four pounds.  If you want to catch some big fish get over there before the rest of the river water takes over.Launch at the remnants of Tites in Slidell Louisiana at the foot of the Highway 11 bridge.  You will see the boats on the other side of the trestles fishing the shore.  Use 1/4 ounce jigheads with opening night or chartruese color beetles.  Like I said we only caught a few but man is it fun.  We only fished to about nine o'clock in the morning.  There ...

The Office of State Parks of Louisiana is reopening Fort Pike tomorrow at 9 a.m.  Fort Pike was completed in 1826.  It is located on the Rigolets Pass between Slidell and Lake Catherine.  The fort suffered heavy damage from hurricane Katrina.  The eye of the storm passed directly over this area.  The new hours of operation will be Thursday thru Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Fort admission is $2 per adult, free for senior citizens and children under eight.  I have visited this fort myself.  You will be amazed how rough life was back in those days.  Take the family and tour the old fort.  Makes for a good time.

Thursday was the first day lately that my dad and i were able to get out with very little wind.  We started about 7:30 a.m.  The tide was falling and the bite was on.  We had 32 keepers by 9:30 a.m.  I had to go do some real estate business in Slidell.  The fish were biting on the Southshore mostly.  I went out this evening and we only caught six.  We havent caught any big ones yet.  But we will.  Get out there and catch some fish.  The bite will remain good until early June, unless they open the spillway.  Call me for fishing tips or if you are looking to buy real estate in Slidell, Lacombe or Pearl River.
