New Orleans Real Estate - Market Report - St. Bernard Happy New Year! We open up our 2013 market reports with a look at St. Bernard. It looks like this is another area that is starting to see signs of a buyer's market. The average days on the market are just about at 3.5 months and the price per square foot sold is hovering around the low to mid 80's. There are a lot of houses on the market and they are averaging over 200 days with an $83 price/sq.ft. It's been a long time coming, but finally Chalmette in St. Bernard Parish (one of the hardest hit Katrina areas) has a movie theater of its own for the first time since the storm. Chalmette Movies opened over the summer and not only does it carry the latest releases, but also one or two films at a time aimed at the art house crowd and film connoisseur. These are movies we don't often find even in the city limits of New Orleans. You can feel the difference it makes when the cinema is run by folks that are also fans of both movies and the cinema experience.
