You don't think it will ever happen to you....until it does. I will never forget the day my sister was pulled from a burning building. This was almost 20 years ago but still feels like yesterday. It was her very first apartment, she had only lived there a week. The place has been recently renovated, new paint, new carpet. I'm not sure how she woke in the middle of the night but I'm glad she did. There is a housing  bill in congress being considers and expected to pass within the next few days. As part of this bill anybody who is buying a home for the first time.. retro-active from April 9,2008-July 2009. The credit has to be repaid over 15 years interest free, so this credit appears to be more like an interest free loan. There are also income limits. For singles, it appears that you cannot make more than $95,000. For married couples filing joint, the income limit is $170,000. This could be a great opportunity for first time buyers who would like to pay down credit cards after they buy a home, or they could use the credit for home improvement.
