365 Things to do in Worcester County -Sturbridge Village is one of my favorite activities.  Sturbridge Village is a living museum that takes place in late 1700's to early 1800's.  It is the largest living museum in New England.    Located in the heart of Sturbridge, it is a multi-acre park that encompasses buildings one found in a village of the time.  My favorite building is the house of the tin smith.    It is so interesting to learn how those old fashioned lanterns are made.  The tours of the homes in Sturbridge Village include what people cooked at the time, the mill, metal smith, and the like.  You can go to the tavern and have period cuisine.  This place is great for children.  There is a boat ride you can enjoy, pick nic area to take a short brake in the middle of the day.    The...

Where are the Foreclosures in Central Massachusetts? July 23, 2010:  Today I am looking at the market to see which towns have the most foreclosures.  The inventory of foreclosed properties has dropped since earlier in the year.  Since my business centers on the towns of south-central Massachusetts, my report today includes only those towns.  If you are looking for specific foreclosure data in a particular town, give me a call and I will pull that information for you. Below you will see two graphs.  The first shows the number of foreclosed properties on the market among several towns.  The second shows the average list price of those foreclosed properties.       You can use this data to see where there is a higher inventory of foreclosed properties with relatively lower prices.  For exam...

Sturbridge, MA - Mandatory Water Ban July 2010 You have most likely seen the signs around town.  Due to the lack of rainfall in recent weeks, the town has issued a mandatory water ban for non-essential use of water.  Basically, this means no watering of lawns, gardens, washing of cars and so forth, between the hours of 9 AM to 5 PM. Why this timeframe?  Quite simply, on hot dry days such as these, you can lose a good 50% of the water you may try to give to your lawn due to evaporation.  Wait until the evening and early morning hours, when the sun has less opportunity to dry up the water before it sinks into the ground. While the ban is in effect, you may water your lawn once a week during the hours outside of 9 AM to 5 PM.  You can get more information from the town at (508) 347-2513. S...
