There are several management or property management companies offering solutions for property rental needs. Such companies come in all sizes and shapes. Often such companies take interest in a large portfolio of properties because they are paid as a percentage of rental income. They take less interest in small deal because in this situation they get paid less. If you are looking for a good rental or property management agency or company you should take care of various situations before hiring one. I mean you should hire always a reputed and registered company for property rental needs. You should always hire a good property manger but first of all take care of following useful tips. 1. Make a list of local property management companies and visit their offices individually. You can find ...

After a brief leave of abscense here on AR, it is good to be back.  In August of last year I was asked by my then employer to stop blogging, as is common with many fortune 50 size companies.   I have taken a different direction with my career and have been presented an opportunity to enter into an entirely different sector of the market.   I am proud to announce my recent appointment as Underwriter of Financial Institutions in the National Specialty Programs unit of All Risks, LTD.  All Risks, Ltd. was formed as an excess and surplus lines facility in 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland. They have since expanded into additional territories and product lines over the past 40 years.  All Risks business is written exclusively through retail agents and brokers. They are independent. I recently came across a great site www.600block.com I have no affiliation with this site but was impressed with it and wanted to share it.  Now that I have children I don't get out much and don't know all of the happening spots, but this website not only has listings of places to eat and where to go, but specials of the week and what are the hot spots for that week.  I thought this site was great and recommend it to anyone that is going out and wants to know where to go.  Let me know what you think. We are pounded constantly by advertising and marketing and occasionally a good scam. I can recall a couple of years ago a beautiful vintage Fender Stratocaster that I nearly fell for that fell in the category of "too good to be true." Thankfully I woke up once I read the phrase "Western Union" the money. I recently placed a rental listing of mine on CraigsList for a fantastic historic row home in the Little Italy section of Baltimore. Cute as can be! Let me introduce you to a fine Englishman, Paul Resch... Paul asked for me information on the property as his company based in the UK was to be opening an office in Baltimore. Checking out the company, it did match the location of where he currently lived. Knowing that a review of a credit report from one of our bureau's, I asked him for th...

Starting June 27th it is really going to happen, once a week trash collection.  To some of you (in the county) already have this and it may not be that big of a deal for you, but for those of us in the city...I am going to miss the twice a week pick up.  I love the fact that trash does not accumulate in the house or outside of the house (the city has some mice/rat issues) and it is such a great feeling to have the trash go out 2 times/week.  The saving grace in all of this is that there will also be once a week recycling (which is great b/c that always accumulates) as we are very big into recycling.  Even my toddler knows what is recyclable.  Anyway for those interested check out www.cleanergreenerbaltimore.org for additional information.  Have a great weekend and remember Earth day is ...

It's spring break here in Baltimore County, Maryland this week and the real estate market has gone crazy.  It's been quite a while since I really played hookie for a whole day (well almost a whole day).  For those of you who don't know, I have a 10 year old son named Liam and I was feeling guilty that I've been working all week while he's been off school, even though he's been at the office with me helping out.  We did take Tuesday afternoon off and went to Friendly's for lunch and then to M.B. Klein model train store in Cockeysville.  M.B. Klein used to be downtown in a small warehouse store in not one of the better parts of town with very limited parking.  Their new store is located in Cockeysville on Cockeysville Road just off York Road north of Warren Road.  The new store is huge, w...

For years now, the old art-deco movie house has stood as a testament to a bygone era.  Aside from the occasional movie premiere, filling the 900+ seat theater has been a challenge.  Competition from your big 24 screen multiplexes is more efficient, and the Senator Theater in Baltimore, MD has had trouble paying it's bills recently. 1st Mariner Bank of Baltimore is now planning on Foreclosing on the historic theater at 10am on April 20th, 2009.  This is not the first time the Senator has faced financial difficulties, and as of March 16th, the theater has stopped showing movies until a resolution can be made. In the meantime, the theater's management are desperately angling to save the theater.  Please donate to The Senator Community Trust, which is working to raise money to bring the lo...

So much has changed with advertising and where is the best place to advertise to get your bank for your buck???  I just caught up with some of my favorite shows that were in my DVR and of course fast forwarded all of the commercials.  I start watching tv shows 10 minutes into the program so I can fast forward the commercials.  I changed my radio stations as soon as an ad comes up (whether it is during my talk radio or music).  I click close to any ad window that pops up when I am on the computer and resent all the junk mail that I get.  I wonder sometimes what advertising will look like in the coming years.  I know that when I want something it is usually word of mouth or if I am already looking at a site that I am on.  For instance I was just looking for a gift and from the web page I ...

Baltimore sends out tax bill notices with errors to property owners in the Midtown, Charles Village and Waterfront Management districts. The city is reviewing the files to determine the extent of the billing errors and will send follow-up letters to property owners when the mistakes are corrected. City officials anticipate the errors will be corrected by March. The errors are limited to liens for special benefit district taxes levied on properties in those neighborhoods.
