I live in an amazing neighborhood. There are so many great things about living in Charred Oak Estates, a tree-lined neighborhood in West Bethesda. I was first attracted to this neighborhood by the large wooded lots. The winding roads, the circles and the hills were also appealing. In the spring, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the neighborhood looks and smells fantastic. The schools have very high ratings, it's convenient to a handful of grocery stores and shopping areas and you can get into Washington DC, or Virginia, or anywhere on the beltway easily. The thing I am most thankful for when it comes to the Charred Oak Estates Neighborhood...the people. Each morning I get a gentle push from the Wonderful Walking Women to get up and walk with them. It is a great way to start t...

Wondering when you should sell your home? If you live in Bethesda's 20817 zip code as I do, you may want to look at the following numbers. First look at the volume of closed sales. It gives you a feeling for how many deals are getting done each month. Then you'll want to look at the pricing. Some months seem to be better for more expensive homes while others seem to see a lot of sales on the lower end of the market.  Finally, you may want to look at the time it took to sell the homes. Measuring the Days on the Market can haelp you figure out how much times houses are on the market before selling. Of course, if you'd like like to sell faster there are many strategies you can use to accomplish your goals. Just give me a call at the Hollish Hill Group. I'm happy to help you build a plan to...

When I get introduced to someone as a real estate agent, what usually follows is the question... How's the real estate market right now? It's a question that varies neighborhood by neighbor and also varies by housing type so it's typically difficult to answer it properly. Jump Right In!When I started out in real estate, I wanted to convey that the market was GREAT, encouraged the person to "jump on in" and asked a few questions to determine why they're asking and tried to give a more customized response. Some people openly explained their situation which allowed me to give them a more detailed and accurate answer. Others were more guarded with their responses making it harder to give them my "best answer".Data and ResearchOver time I've developed a different approach that focuses on the...

I have found a new favorite food in Bethesda -  rolled Thai ice cream at Class 520, located at 4941 Elm Street, close to the Dunkin Donut shop and Fancy Cakes by Leslie.Class 520 serves “Thai-inspired” (also known as Teriyaki!) ice cream made by pouring a milk-based liquid onto an extremely cold, flat metal circle. The liquid is then spread out in a thin layer by one of the servers as you watch. Once the ice cream freezes, it is scraped into quarter-sized rolls and place in a bowl.  You get to choose a topping and then enjoy!                                 The shop offers several ice cream options, all for $7.70, including mango- and strawberry-based Mad Mango and coffee-flavored Morning Latte.  That was the one that we shared last week.  Honestly, I am looking forward to going back ag...

Homes for Sale in the Ashburton Community in Bethesda MDWhy Do People Live in Ashburton?People live in Ashburton because it is so convenient to downtown Washington and the Beltway, because it has great schools, and because the mid century split levels and ramblers set on quarter acre lots with mature trees and shrubbery are affordable in relation to the rest of Bethesda. The streets are quiet and filled with children riding bikes and families walking their dogs.  This is a friendly old fashioned neighborhood that welcomes newcomers and embraces the long time residents.  Naturally a popular neighborhood like this is beginning to see new construction as some of the older and smaller homes are torn down and replaced with Craftsman homes with inviting front porches. LOOKING FOR A HOME IN AS...
