After working diligently to develop a large friend base on Facebook for a client, I now have to turn people away and encourage them to be fans.  As the client provides services to Realtors® around the country and beyond, developing 5,000 friends is not unusual.  Eventually, people will come to their business page first, but we now redirect a few dozen people daily.  Some may fan them, others are lost.  In these times, not being able to make easy social network connections is a serious handicap in the current business environment when web marketing is considered essential. THE STORY OF EAST BETHESDA AND THE EBCA Early History:  Profile of a Neighborhood Bethesda has come a long way from the Five Points Indian trial at the East-West Highway/Wisconsin Avenue intersection.  Indian tribes from all over Maryland used to meet as their paths crossed at this point on their way to the river for the fishing season. The first road was Old Georgetown.  It was a rolling road for tobacco farmers to get their barrels of tobacco (hogsheads) to the ships at Georgetown. News flash!  Most buyers do not have unlimited money when shopping for a home!  Whatever money they have must be carefully allocated to the down payment, the closing costs, and ideally to a fund to cover the cost of moving expenses, appliances or carpeting they will want to replace immediately, and emergencies.  Some buyers cut it so close that unexpected fees thrown at them at the last minute are a cause for panic.  Now, new laws in effect January 1, 2010 promise buys a better estimate of cost at closing.  A recent update to Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, a 1974 law known as RESPA now mandates that buyers receive a standard three-page good-faith estimate that urges home-buyers to shop around for a loan and compare rates.  Though rates at most banks have reached historic lows, t... 01/28/2010

Part IV (Title Insurance) Title insurance is a good thing.  It protects you from claims from others on your new house (and these things do happen).  But it's bloody expensive.  One way around the expense is to get a "re-issue" rate on title insurance.  If the current owner has been in the house for less than 10 years and they are able to put their hands on the physical title insurance policy, you just might be entitled to a discount.
