East Bethesda Real Estate Statistics for 2009: It's time for my annual number crunching.  So, how is East Bethesda real estate faring?  Better than the rest of the region.  Prices are down from last year, roughly 12% regionally and 6.9% within East Bethesda.  And while lower prices are never great for sellers, if you are a move-up buyer, the savings on your new home should more than offset the loss you'll take on your current.  At the time of this writing we have an extremely low inventory of homes for sale (4 houses are available in our neighborhood, ranging in price from $535,000 - $1,450,000).  With this rather severe lack of inventory we've also been seeing some multiple bids (remember those!). Bethesda MD 20817 Real Estate     Home owners and prospective purchasers want to know the trends of the real estate market. The following statistics are for the past month and are compared with the same month last year. There were 19 new listings and 22 went to pending new contracts. The sold dollar volume was up 73.39% from last year.  The number of homes sold was 34 from 25 last year. The average days on the market was 105 days from 77 days last year. The average sale price was 90.5% of the average list price. The median sold price was $837,500.   Please let us know if you need to purchase by the end of April to qualify for the tax credit.      In the cold dark days of winter, it is hard to come up with activities to keep an active toddler engaged and happy, but Bethesda theaters are making it easier for families now.  Both Bethesda's Imagination Stage and Glen Echo Park's the Puppet Company are presenting active shows, specifically geared for children from age 2 to 4.      The Puppet Company features Bob Brown and his marionettes doing about a dozen Tiny Tots variety shows, each of which lasts about 45 minutes - a perfect time length for a busy toddler.  Bob Brown and his marionettes appear in the Puppet Co. Bethesda Magazine holds a "contest" each year for the "Best of Bethesda" and the results were just released for 2010. Barbara Leister, the principal of Wyngate Elementary School, was voted as the best Elementary School Principal in Bethesda for the second year in a row! She has been the principal at Wyngate for 22 years, so she clearly has a good handle on the education of young children.  Other principals that were recognized included Lisa Seymour of Bethesda Elementary, Sandra Reece of Bradley Hills, Linda Goldberg of Potomac, Martin Barnett of Cold Spring, Gary Bartee of North Chevy Chase and Charlene Eroh of Ashburton.
