Having an attitude of gratitude is what the Thanksgiving season is about and is a good frame for mind for life.  This weekend, the gratitude that comes to mind might be that the turkey wasn't burned or that you got the Black Friday deal you wanted.  But, as one of our virtual assistant writes, it's deeper than that.. How often do you take the time to focus on what you're thankful for? Daily? Weekly? Ever? Many of usspend so much time and energy focusing on what we don't have and how to get it, instead of taking time to appreciate what we already have - often missing the blessing altogether. There is nothing wrong with being driven to achieve - that is what likely makes you successful at what you do. Striving toward goals is what allows you to learn more and make progress. However, there...

It's Thanksgiving, one day when things are pretty quiet in real estate world.  (We noticed Active Rain was down for maintenance for a bit though!  Someone must have gotten the short end of the wishbone!) We are enjoying the pause, which has given us time to think about how grateful we are for our growing base of clients and the opportunity to serve you.  We know that real estate is about ready to into high gear. Usually this time of year, things are slowing down from the holiday.  This year, with the newly devised home owners tax credit in motion, things should we busy until the spring.  Then of course, the traditional home buying season starts. We are appreciative of our crew of part time virtual assistants who always ready to take on new tasks that both strengthen our company and incr...

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  As you sit around the table in your home in Bethesda, Rockville, Potomac, or maybe Gaithersburg, you give thanks over  turkey or turkey substitute, watch a  little football, and perhaps think about the biggest Black Friday purchase you  will ever make: a new house.  With  prices lower than a year or two ago, interest rates of 5% or less, and a tax credit on the table for both new and repeat homebuyers, this could be the year you move up or move on.  Thanksgiving is traditionally the time we give thanks for the past and enter the home stretch of the year so we can start fresh in the new one.  With great homes on the market and incentives to get you there, 2010 could be an exciting one. If you think back to the first Thanksgiving that inspired this holiday, yo...

I was supposed to be leaving for New York tomorrow morning to spend Thanksgiving in the city. I have always wanted to see the Macy's Day parade and watch the crews blow up the big balloons the night before. It is part of my bucket list! Unfortunately, my mother got sick again and I really was concerned that she might have pneumonia. I couldn't imagine leaving her in DC, possibly needing hospitalization. My dreams of watching the balloons being blown up Wednesday night blew away and now we are going to spend the holiday at home - just my husband, daughter, me and possibly my mother. Not the holiday I planned, but definately one to celebrate. I have been really busy - as I am sure you have been too. I have been doing this long enough to realize that when you are busy, you are very very lu...

In a time where money is tight, any means a business can find to advertise for free is priceless.  As a virtual assistant for Best Agent Business, I know first hand, how valuable these resources have become.  I am the Team Leader for the Craigslist team, and I'm here to tell you about what we can do to help promote your listings. Best Agent Business has a Listings Team.  A few of the things this team organizes and manages are posting listings to various marketing sites, and staying in constant contact with our clients to make sure their needs are being met and often times, exceeded.  Recently, the listings team has branched into a team specifically designed in posting Real Estate Listings to Craigslist. Our team is in direct contact with each client's Key Assistant or Team Leader and ma...

Best Agent Business Virtual Assistants don't just live in the real estate world as staff - often they enter it as clients.  This moving story of a virtual assistant who just bought a house tells it all, from the importance of finding the right agent to the importance of making a fair offer based in the market conditions to the mound of paperwork necessary to close. As a first time home owner, I can tell you one thing, very few emotions are left unturned during the process.  I had no idea what I would be getting into, and here I am almost a month and a half later, still wondering how this all happened. Let me back up and give you a quick history of the whole process and how it began.  My husband is active duty Navy.  When he received word that we would be staying in Jacksonville, I was e...

Montgomery County residents, have been thinking about making a move but decided against it because you thought you couldn't sell you current home?  Did you want to use the home buyer's tax credit, but waivered about buying because you thought it was too late to get the process going?  Or did you not qualify because your income was too high? Or maybe because you owned a home, now or in the last three years, you didn't qualify? Good news!  The tax credit has now been extended and expanded in a way that will help sellers, help first time buyers, and help repeat buyers too.  Let's look at the terms: The credit runs through April 30, 2010. You must have a signed contract by this date, but have until June 3, 2010 to close.  Military buyers who have served out of the country  and are on active...

After a detailed search of homes in Bethesda and Chevy Chase, my clients found a townhouse that they liked enough to make an offer on. After a lot of back and forth, they agreed to pay top dollar for the property, subject to a house inspection. My clients had not really planned on moving. Indeed, they had just paid $8000 for new hardwood floors upstairs in their current home, but suddenly, they had found this new townhouse, and they had decided to make the offer. When we did the inspection, we discovered that the air conditioner was not 2 years old as the seller had promised, but actually was 11 years old.  The hot water heater was electric, not gas, as the Multiple Listing printout said. (The seller had said it was electric in the seller disclosure, but the listing agent didn't pay any...
