Facebook in the Baltimore County area was a flurry today as the group SAVE CATONSVILLE'S FOURTH gained strength in numbers. The word on the street was that Baltimore County Public School is changing its land use policy, meaning no fireworks at Catonsville High school for July 4th, no concert, and no games and races. By the end of the day the news was good. County Councilman, Sam Moxley has been in contact with the BCPS system. The 2010 Catonsville Fourth of July Annual Parade was even more Patriotic and extravagant than previous years. Most in part to the milestone in years for Catonsville. Catonsville celebrates 200 years. Although the local weather forecast predicted a comfortable 88 degrees, it was instead a very sweaty and sticky 90+ degrees, but no hotter than usual. The entire day was actually on July 3rd. The reason why the change was made was reported in the "Catonsville Times".  "With Independence Day falling on a Sunday and to keep from blocking roads and upsetting area churchgoers, the annual holiday festivities will be held on Saturday." Today Friday April 23rd is Saint George's Day. St George is the Patron Saint of England. Each of the four Countries that make up the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland) have their own Patron Saint- In the USA St Patrick's Day is celebrated every March 17th.  This morning my Husband and I were telling Drew about Saint George and how he fought the Dragon and became the English Patron Saint I asked Drew if he was brave and he said yes. I asked him if he would be brave enough to fight the Dragon and he said "No, I would get someone else to do that!" He then insisted on wearing his England Soccer strip to school to show his national pride. He collected up his Dragon and his castle and his Knights helmet. It is a glorious time of year in Catonsville, Maryland. Almost every garden is ablaze with the most vibrant colors. I am not a gardener, so I have no idea what they are called, but they are visually pleasing and some even smell good. My three year old in his car seat almost has whip-lash from his diligent search of the prettiest garden as we drive to and fro from school. To keep his interest I have taken a different route home every day. One of my favorite things to do is walk around the neighborhoods and enjoy the weather and the arrival of Spring. For the last few days I have taken my camera on our car journeys and walks.
