mmmm.. the smell of freshly baked bread. It's mouth-watering delicious. Just stepping into the Great Harvest Bread Company in Columbia, MD, I was sold. I wanted to try it all, the Honey Whole Wheat, the Woodstock (with sunflower and flax seeds, walnuts, pecans), the Old fashioned White, the chocolate bliss cookie ... The thing is, at the Great Harvest Bread Company you can in fact have it all. Sample the bread of the week, a cookie, a scone. They actually encourage you to. Buttered and all. The Columbia, MD Market Report for home sales in March 2014 is here and see the numbers for yourself.   In the month of March 2014 - 29 of the 74 homes in Columbia, MD were sold after being on the market for LESS THAN 30 DAYS!  The majority of the remaining 45 homes sold in March were on the market less than 2 months. The average selling price in the 21044 zip code was $349,360 which is 6% higher than the year before, the average selling price in the 21045 zip code was $347,482 which was 16% higher compared to the year before and the average selling price in the 20146 zip code was $304,773 which was 3% lower  to the year before.  Prices appear to be reaching a stable point - at least for now!             The Columbia area here in Maryland is a popular destination for people moving from ... 04/15/2014

Columbia, MD has a serious shortage of independent coffee shops. Although this planned community has a lot going for it - nature, trails, lakes and recreational facilities (gyms, pools, tennis ... for a fee) - that does not apply when it comes to coffee shops. There is no quaint historic Main St (head to neighboring Ellicott City and visit the Bean Hollow) and pretty much all stores and shops are located in the various villages strip malls. So where in Columbia, MD can you get good coffee? At Anna's Coffee Roastery! Anna's Coffee Roastery is located in a strip mall of course (see above) which is not very appealing when it comes to coffee shops. It also lacks outdoor space which is really, really too bad.
