  So far this winter season Central Maryland has escaped the brutal snowfall that has caused problems for our neigboring States to the North, South and West. On Tuesday we had just another light dusting with some ice for good measure. The schools were closed, so it was a great day to get out and about.   Residential Home Resale statistics for Howard County - December 2010 While November 2010 saw a fair decrease from November 2009, for December the two years were fairly equivalent in overall sales. Compared solely to last month, Howard County saw sales increase by about $8 million. As it seems to be with the trend, attached home sales decreased from 55 to 44 and detached home sales went up from 199 to 122. This is the comment I heard yesterday while I was walk through the common area in my office by another agent.   This comment caused me to pause and head towards the file drawer to pretend I had an addendum that I needed to find at that exact moment.    But in reality I wanted to eavesdrop of the conversation.    The agent continued by saying that he tells his buyers up front that he does not show short sales and if they are interested in seeing short sales he will refer them to another agent.     His reasoning was he had a lot of short sales contracts that never went to settlement and he felt it was a waste of his time and caused the buyers to become discouraged with the process of buying and often they stopped looking all together.     Of course short sales are difficult and often time... 01/11/2011

The way to a man's heart is through his stomach, apparently it works for women too.....it's just a HUGE shame when they are on a NO CARB diet!!!!! Two nice young chaps from Kolache Kreations, a brand new coffee shop and bakery in the Ellicott City area, stopped by the Long & Foster office on Baltimore National Pike today to introduce us to their delicious delights. A box full of pastries and Kolaches. Who could resist? I tucked into a small portion of what looked like a bread roll, but in fact had tasty sausages and cheese in the middle. As the Mother of a four year old child who has been crazy about trains (mostly Thomas the Tank Engine) for the past three years, there is nothing more enjoyable than spending an hour at the Ellicott City Fire Company #2, located at 4150 Montgomery Road in Ellicott City, MD looking at the amazing train display that fills an entire room. This year is no exception and the 2010 13th Annual Train Garden is not a disappointment. Midnight Madness in Historic Ellicott City. The 33rd Annual Event Friday December 3rd 2010. 7pm till Midnight. A personal holiday favorite for me in Howard County is the Annual Downtown Historic area of Ellicott City's start to the festive season with MIDNIGHT MADNESS. The event takes place along the length of Main Street where all of the stores and restaurants celebrate the night by staying open till midnight. This annual folly of festivity will offer up bundles of cheer and holiday shopping sales.
