Candlelight Tours of Agricultural History Farm The Montgomery Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood always is a fascinating place that can quickly take visitors back to a time when agriculture dominated the County’s economy and lifestyle. There will now be an opportunity to learn about those times via candlelight tours on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17-18, and Friday-Saturday, Dec. 15-16.The nighttime tours on each evening will be from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for ages 18-and-older and $10 for ages 7-17. Volunteers Needed for Parade Day Activities Annual Thanksgiving Parade, Nov. 18The annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade, which is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving, returns at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, in Downtown Silver Spring. The Odds Of Hitting A Deer In MarylandHow To Avoid It This SeasonDeer — including especially frisky bucks competing for mates in what’s called “rut” — are making Maryland’s rural roads, and some more isolated stretches of urban highway, more dangerous at this time of year. State Farm, the largest auto insurer in the country, said industrywide casualty claims data puts the odds of hitting a deer or other animal at 1 in 116 in Maryland. November, October and December, in that order, are the most dangerous time of year for animal collisions. Deer are involved in the largest majority of claims, State Farm said, followed by collisions with rodents, dogs, raccoons and coyotes. VITA Needs Volunteers Assist Eligible Residents in Filing Income Tax ReturnsThe Montgomery County Community Action Agency’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is recruiting volunteers to become IRS-certified VITA tax preparers, schedulers, greeters, quality reviewers and site coordinators during the upcoming tax season (January–mid-April). VITA provides free tax help to Montgomery County residents, including ITIN taxpayers, with household incomes of $64,000 or less.The program links residents to valuable tax credits that can provide critical financial support to lower income households. Wu elected as City Council Members.   The Board of Supervisors of Elections will review mail-in and provisional ballots on November 14.
