Finding a masonry repair contractor for a Kentlands home The winter snow and ice caused damage to some of the to mortar joints on our brick front porch and steps. My search for a good contractor to do the repairs was a frustrating exercise. A roofer provided a recommendation and I called Antonia Schiano Di Cola at Mosaic Home Enhancements for a proposal.His workmen completed the work and the entry to our home is now more attractive. Distracted Driving April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Montgomery County, Maryland police officers will enforce distracted driving-related violations throughout the month as they watch for drivers talking on cell phones, texting and otherwise violating traffic laws. All of us see distracted drivers when we are on the road. Dolores Kelley shares a spot and stain removal secretPICRINDolores asked if I would take a short trip with her to an industrial park in Silver Spring, Maryland.  It is a bit unusual us us to go shopping in in industrial park but it was an interesting adventure.For many years, my wife, Dolores Kelley, has been using a product that has saved many trips to the dry cleaners and has made white upholstery more practical to use. Cool Your Ashes We have unusually cold spring weather in Maryland. The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service has responded to several home fires caused by improperly discarded fireplace ashes. Imperial Russian Art in DC:  Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens Dolores and I always enjoy our visits to Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens. Hillwood was the home of Marjorie Merriweather Post and is now a wonderful travel destination for art lovers.When you visit Washington, DC this spring, plan to spend a day at Hillwood. Make sure you have extra batteries for your camera! Does your child know how and when to call 911? A few days ago, a seven year old girl in our area was able to call 911 to report that her father was experiencing a medical emergency. She described the conditions and provided the home address. The rescue service gives her credit for saving the life of her dad. As young as possible, children need to learn their home address as well as how and when to call 911. Happy Hour Wine: Laurent Dublanc Cotes du Rhone Chef Dolores had a late afternoon hair appointment, the granite man came to measure our kitchen counters and our accountant arrived to pick up the papers for our tax return. Snacks for dinner and Chef Dolores selected a bottle of Laurent Dublanc Cotes du Rhone, 2014. This is an inexpensive French red wine that we purchased at a Trader Joe's store in Williamsburg, Virginia.
