What is the best thing to do in your home area? It is interesting to learn more about the communities in which we live. Think about the special things to do in your home area and share your answer to this question.A good thing to do during the spring in Montgomery County, Maryland is to visit Brookside Gardens, the nicest botanical gardens in the area. Dolores would probably opt for a round of golf at Montgomery Country Club. What is the best thing to do in your home area? Tulips, Kentlands Spring Photowalk IMG 2897Photograph by Roy Kelley Roy and Dolores Kelley Photographs

Baltimore Burning I am sure that you are watching the news about the mob actions, personal injuries, looting and the burning of vehicles and buildings in the City of Baltimore. If you watched the looters at the CVS store and the burning of the store without any action at all by the police department, you must wonder how in the world this can happen. It is a good time for all of us to ask if the same thing could happen in other cities and the response we would expect from the local government and the police department. Should business owners expect that they will receive police protection from looters and mob actions? Orchids, Conservatory Display, Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA USA IMG 2490Photograph by Roy Kelley Roy and Dolores Kelley Photographs

Be a Rainbow  "Try to be a Rainbow in someone's cloud" -  Maya Angelou This quote was provided by San Francisco blogger Lottie Kendall in one of her recent blogs. Try to be a Rainbow.Lottie suggests that it may not take much effort to become a rainbow.  A smile, a ‘thank you’ or an act of kindness could make a difference. What has someone done to become a rainbow in your cloud? Orchid, Longwood Gardens IMG 0396Photograph by Roy Kelley Roy and Dolores Kelley Photographs

Alignment starts with the focused leader “You may be the owner, the manager, or CEO but that does not mean you are seen as the leader. You may be the manager but your team will follow you if you are the leader.   As managers we can influence the process through which people recognize our leadership by creating an environment where people will join “the team” because they see the purpose of what they are supposed to do and understand the vision, the “big picture” as well as the values of the organization for which they work. Today’s fast-moving business environment demands that the effective leader be both, a well-organized administrator and highly adept in understanding people’s basic needs and behavior in the workplace. Be open with your communication. Share the vision and values but a...
