Driveway-Paving Scams Warning As the warm weather approaches, the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) is warning homeowners about driveway-paving scammers who typically look to exploit them in spring. These scammers are a common problem not only in Montgomery County, but also across Maryland. Homeowners should be aware and take appropriate measures to avoid falling victim to it.In the last year, OCP has been taking measures against individuals who performed unlicensed home improvement work, particularly those who conducted driveway paving. As a result, civil and criminal charges have been issued against them, and several have been issued arrest warrants. Gaithersburg Summer Adult Indoor Volleyball   Volleyball teams need to be alert for the deadlines for registration for the Gaithersburg Summer Adult Indoor Volleyball season. Returning teams need to register early to obtain priority status. Registration is now open for returning and new teams. Maryland Spring Flowers: Kentlands Photowalk   Photowalking in our home neighborhood of Kentlands, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, is one of my regular activities.  Kentlands is a planned community that is one of the favorites for families that are relocated to the Metropolitan area of Washington, DC.  Walking is good exercise for me and I enjoy the relaxing moments as I focus my attention on my camera on beautiful flowers, blossoms and plants.  Give photowalking a try for your physical and mental health. Kentlands Happy Hour is this Friday, May 3, 2013   The Kentlands Citizens Assembly is encouraging community residents to attend the May Kentlands Happy Hour event at the Kentlands Clubhouse.  The date is this Friday, May 3, 2013 and the time is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  This is a good place to meet friends and neighbors and to make some new friends before going out for dinner. Kentlands Community Table, May 1, 2013   The Community Table is one of the regular events in Kentlands.  A local restaurant is selected for a specific date and time and then residents are invited to join their neighbors for dinner.  This is a pay your own way event to support local restaurants, to meet with old friends and to make some new friends. Spring Flowers, Longwood Gardens   Dolores and I spent a day at Longwood Gardens to enjoy and photograph the spring flowers.   Longwood Gardens is located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, just west of Wilmington, Delaware.  With over 1,100 acres of gardens and a very large Conservatory, this is a world class travel destination.  We are members and try to attend all of the major annual exhibits. The colors of the season at Green Spring Gardens   If you follow my blogs, you already know that I like to take photowalks.  If you are not familiar with photowalking, it simply means taking photographs while you are on a walk.   Most of my walks are in our home neighborhood ,  Kentlands, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Dolores and I also like to photowalk through local and regional gardens as we seek to capture the colors of the season.  The photographs in this photoblog were taken in April at Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, Virginia. Gaithersburg Paws in the Park, Sunday, April 28   This Sunday, April 28, 2013, is the date for the annual Paws in the Park fundraiser for the Montgomery County Humane Society.  The time is from noon to 4 p.m. and the location is Bohrer Park at Summit Hall, Picnic Pavilion, 510 S. Tulips + Imagination,  Meadowlark Photowalk, iPiccy.com Editing   Spring is a wonderful time for those of us that enjoy photographing the colors of the season.  Flower photography is an enjoyable hobby and walking for a few hours to take pictures is good exercise.
