Maryland Weather – Photographs by Roy Kelley We have another beautiful day in Maryland and the conditions were ideal for my morning walk through Kentlands and Lakelands in Gaithersburg. It is good to have photographs to help us remember other January days that were somewhat different.  At this time last year, we were still digging out of deep snow.  It is fun to take photographs with deep snow but life is much easier with good weather. Skating on the Kentlands and Lakelands Lakes is Prohibited! The frozen lakes look inviting, but please do not attempt to play or skate on any of the lakes in Kentlands and Lakelands.  The ice could give way and you would fall into freezing water!  If this were to happen, it could prove fatal before rescuers could reach the scene.  Talk to your children about the extreme danger of playing on the ice or the rocks surrounding the lakes. Even though the ice looks stable, our lakes double as a storm drainage network. This means that the level of water under the ice may be lowering.  In addition, the water is constantly moving under the ice, thus further contributing to a very dangerous environment.  An adult can lose motor skills within a minute of being in freezing water and it's even faste...
