The Quiet Symphony of Simple JoysThe June ActiveRain Challenge is all about you, your dreams and what you would like to create in life.At my advanced age, I have a lot going for me. My vision is going, my hearing is going, my back is going, my knees are going, and more. I now have physical limitations not previously experienced. So, thinking positively has become more important than at any other time of my life. I would gladly give several million ActiveRain points to always have a positive mindset. In a recent book that I read, one of the characters was advised to concentrate on the parts of life that deserve celebration and to find joy in the simple things. That is good advice for all of us. I got assistance from Google Gemini for the following article. The Quiet Symphony of Simple Joys...

New Tick-Borne Disease On The Rise In MarylandAs the arrival of summer nears, cases of a new tick-borne illness are on the rise in Maryland. A newly published study in the Journal of Medical Entomology discovered that human babesiosis, a disease caused by microscopic parasites that infect red blood cells, has expanded to the Mid-Atlantic region. Historically, cases of the disease were concentrated in the Northeast and Upper Midwest states. According to the research, the disease is caused by the parasite Babesia microti, which is spread by black-legged (or deer) ticks. Gaithersburg Patch Click here to learn more. How To Protect Yourself Because symptoms of tick-borne illnesses can lag, the best thing to do is protect yourself against ticks when you’re in places they’re likely to be found...

The Art of ListeningThe  June 2025  ActiveRain Point Store Challenge will give you an opportunity to slow down, and imagine what you'd like to create in your life.My wife, Dolores, reminds me almost every day that I need to become a better listener. That is a goal that will cost nothing but would be priceless.I received further inspiration by a recent blog post by Aura Alex that included the following statement: "This is the work of building bridges. Not solving everything. Not erasing conflict. Simply cracking open the door to hear another story—a perspective you hadn’t once considered."I asked Claude.ai for assistance with the following: The Art of Listening: Building Bridges One Story at a Time In our polarized world, where conversations often devolve into debates and opinions calcif...

The Gift of AcceptanceThe June ActiveRain Challenge is all about you, your dreams and what you would like to create in life. During these times of divisive news, negative comments, retaliation and revenge, it is a good to turn our thoughts to the positive elements of life. In one of the recent novels I read, a school poster was quoted: "Accept others for who they are. Not for who you think they should be." I asked Claude.ai to write an article with this theme and received the following results. One of the nice things about the gift of acceptance is that is priceless but costs nothing. The Gift of Acceptance: Loving Others as They AreWe all carry blueprints in our minds—invisible sketches of how we think the people in our lives should be. Your partner should be more organized. Your friend...
