Life is better when there are flowers to photograph - 8/24/11 It is always a good idea to have your camera in hand when you take walks through your home community.  The Kentlands area, where our home is located, in Gaithersburg, MD, is a neo-traditional community that is ideal for walking and the large number of flowers allows the photographers to capture the colors of the season.  When you are selecting an area for a home purchase, take time to walk through the area to see if the quality of life features you are seeking are available. Rosemont is a community in Gaithersburg, Maryland located just North of Shady Grove Road and West of Route 355.   This is a community of custom built homes with large lots and off street parking with most homes having a one or two car garage.   This neighborhood is located near the Shady Grove Metro Red Line and very close to fast commuter routes - including the new Intercounty Connector that will be seeing its final completion soon. Rosemont has not been immune to short sales and foreclosures, but most homes in Rosemont have been conventional sales in the last year.  There is one active home on the market, five sales, and there were two homes that failed to sell.   The following is a map of these homes that were on the market in the last year.   This data is deemed reliable, but not gu...

Are your ducks in a row for the current real estate market? These feathered neighbors in our Kentlands neighborhood demonstrate how to get ducks in a row.  When I take walks through our Kentlands community, I usually seek the colors of the season in the flowers to photograph.  Now and then, I have the opportunity to photograph some of the wildlife. Ducks in a row:  To get one's ducks in a row essentially means to ensure all of the small details or elements are accounted for and in their proper positions before embarking on a new project. A real estate professional may get all of his or her "ducks in a row" by rehearsing the sales presentation beforehand.  A home buyer might get his or her“ducks in a row” by getting pre-approved for mortgage financing and reducing the requirements for a ...

Longwood Gardens Flowers & Home Safety Tips  8/7/11 Tips to keep your home safe while you are away: Stop newspaper deliveries when you are gone so they do not pile up. Be careful whom you tell that you are going away. For example, casually mentioning to a vendor thay you are going out of town can be risky. If someone is checking on your home, ask them not to tell other people that you are out of town. Park a car in the driveway, but take out the garage door opener. Don't post about your vacation on Facebook until after you get back. Where to go for pleasure:  Dolores and I enjoy trips to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  If you are in the area, take your family for a visit, with cameras in hand.  The website will provide information on the current exhibits and activitie...
