Kentlands Luau is this Saturday Pool closing at 4 PM on Saturday, August 14; Doors Open for the Luau  at 6 PM The Annual Luau will be held Saturday, August 14, from 6 pm to 9 pm.  The Clubhouse and pool will be closed from 4 pm to 6 pm to allow staff to set up for this event.  Doors will open at 6 pm for the Luau.  Please have your confirmation number ready when you check-in at the front desk.The Assembly would like to thank Elaine Koch & Associates for sponsoring the Island Oasis drink tent at this year's Luau. No power!   I've lived in this house for 14 years and we've always had power.  The neighbors and I like to joke that there is a secret government facility nearby that we are on their grid.   Okay, we've lost power for like two hours overnight before (barely noticed) and have had the five minutes of power loss - but it always comes miraculously back up.   This time that storm got us and took down a huge tree on Virginia Avenue and we have to wait in line.  With less than 200 homes in the neighborhood we are not a priority area.  As I like to look at the positive: at least we have water.  Some people in the neighborhood are still on well water...however, this dwindles every year.  at least we don't have any damage.  There are a lot of damaged homes and property. at least the dry ice place...

Gaithersburg, MD 20878 Zip Code Home Sales Statistics - Includes Kentlands and Lakelands     Home owners and prospective purchasers want to know the trends of the local real estate market. The following statistics are for the past month and are compared with the same month last year. There were 114 new listings of homes for sale and 64 homes for sale went to pending new contracts. The sold dollar volume for the zip code was down 8.98% from last year. The number of homes sold and settled was 71 from 81 last year. The average time on the market was 32 days from 86 days last year. The average sale price was 96.28% of the average list price. The average sold price was $504,241. Was that a tornado?  Apparently almost!  According to some neighbors it was a bonafide tornado.  The community which is in central Montgomery County, Maryland took quite a tumble yesterday, during a brief but powerful storm that literally ripped through the subdivision.  The were literally dozens of trees down and uprooted, miscellaneous property damage, and telephone and powerlines down.  However, power to the community at large was active as is typical during storms.   "This community rarely loses power" said a neighbor.  Another neighbor is quoted as saying "it literally took the tree up into the air swirling it around before it dumped it in the neighbor's yard". Gaithersburg Hosts Fall Golf Tournament  Proceeds Benefit Youth Coaches Education Program On Friday, October 1, 2010, the City of Gaithersburg will host its annual Fall Golf Classic at Clustered Spiresin Frederick, Maryland.  This is a 4-player scramble format tournament, limited to the first 30 foursomes that register. Proceeds from the Gaithersburg Fall Golf Classic benefit the Youth Coaches Education Program, providing training and support for the dozens of coaches that work with City of Gaithersburg youth throughout the year.
