Still want your first home in Potomac or another Montgomery County city in time to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit?  Unless the credit is extended (cross your fingers!), deals must be closed by November 30, which means anything not in the works by October 15th may not make it.  If you are at the point in buying your new home that you are just thinking about it and leisurely driving through Potomac or Gaithersburg or Rockville and assessing what you like, you are unlikely to meet this deadline.  However, if you are really ready to go, there are a few things you can do to rush you home purchase through the system. It is important to make the right decision in financial matters, especially when your credit history will take an immediate hit if you make the wrong one.  If you are in a position of deciding between selling your home as a short sale or letting it go into foreclosure, it is critical to be aware of the differences of how either one could effect your credit.  There's Help to Prevent Foreclosure In either case, you should examine available alternatives to spare your home and your credit.  The State of Maryland is proactive about preventing future foreclosure; before making a decision check out foreclosure counseling services in Montgomery County or  contact the Homeownership Preservation Foundation by telephone at 888-995-HOPE or at its website at www.995hope.org. Once the bank takes possession they begin the notoriously slow process of listing the home for sale. First they determine if the property is still occupied. If occupied they begin the eviction process. If vacant, they secure & rekey, order a BPO (Broker's Price Opinion) & assign an agent etc..... When the property finally hits the market ... it will likely be priced well below current comps. It is vital to be ready to take advantage of this opportunity when it hits the market!   ....    Most well priced Ban...

Maybe you've thought that you'd like to buy a home in Montgomery County pretty soon but you're just not sure.  If you are sitting on the fence, right now it's a matter of 1,2,3. 1-  If you have never owned a home before, this credit is unquestionably for you - the true, first time homebuyer.  As long as you are creditworthy and not exceed income limits of $75,000 to $95,000 for singles and $150,000 to $170,000 for couples, you are eligible to receive a 10% credit on your home up to a maximum of $8,000. The credit is a true credit that does not have to be repaid so long as you keep the home for three years.  There is talk of the credit being extended, but if it's not this is your number ONE chance to get your first home for up to $8,000 less than the selling price. 2-  The homeowner cred...

Considering buying a home?  Now is the time.  Uncle Sam just might be your long, lost, rich uncle after all!  In case you have not heard, there is current legislation allowing for the government to foot the bill to the tune of $8000 towards your home purchase.  This legislation has been put into place to help first time home buyers jump on the band wagon.
