What a great night and double-capacity crowd for the 2010 St. Mary's River Concert Series, along with the Independence Day fireworks. The weather was perfect! Next Friday, July 9, will be the singing night - The Chesapeake Orchestra and Larry Vote, guest conductor, welcomes Michelle Johnson, soprano, Olivia Vote, mezzo soprano, and Brian Major, baritone for an evening of Opera Aria Highlights.

This is a press release from Historic St. Mary's City. In 1704, Maryland Governor Seymour ordered the sheriff to lock the Roman Catholic brick chapel at St. Mary's City and see that it was never again used for worship. Join us, 305 years later, as St. Mary's County Sheriff Timothy Cameron unlocks the massive oak and pine doors of the reconstructed chapel and invites the public to explore the building. Following a brief ceremony, researchers and builders will be available to answer questions about the chapel project. Artifacts from the chapel excavations will be on display and light refreshments will be served. There is no charge for this event.
