East Norbeck Park is a Maryland National Capital Parks and Planning Commission  (M-NCPPC) park accessible from Norbeck Rd (MD RT 28); east of Georgia Ave, west of Wintergate Dr. Norbeck Rd intersection. There are Basketball and Tennis Courts along with a pavilion just off the park entrance from Norbeck Rd.  You will find a baseball diamond to the back of the park. This is one of the parks that I have visited that did not have a tot-lot; but there is room if the M-NCPPC makes the decision to put one in.

When Country Club moved out to Layhill Road in mid 1950's, the grounds and buildings became the home of the Silver Spring YMCA.  Indian Spring is just inside the Beltway in Silver Spring, east of Colesville Road (Route 29). The south border is Franklin Avenue and the west, University Boulevard. The Indian Spring community was listed in the Washingtonian one of the "Best Places to Live" (2005).  "This is the kind of inner-Beltway suburb that downtown Silver Spring was revitalized for. The professionals living here may have families, but they're not so suburbanized that they don't enjoy the ar...

I have finally found the best Sushi in Silver Spring!  I am very picky about my sushi, for years I would drive to Bethesda or have to head up the dreaded (crowded, congested with a traffic light every 1/4 mile) Rockville Pike to have sushi, because there was no place to get it in Silver Spring.  For a while, a sushi place opened up in Downtown Silver Spring, it was, to say the least, horrible sushi and a kinda scary place.  I don't remember the name of it because it was gone in less than a year.  I was delighted when Whole Foods got Sushi and that's were I've been getting it until about 5 months ago.  I have been back to test the sushi in this place for the past 5 months and it has been consistently fresh and better than I remember having in the best Bethesda or DC sushi bar.  You can a...

The song Silver Springs was written by Stevie Nicks.   Legend has it that she got the idea while riding in a limo on the Capitol Beltway after a concert and seeing the sign for the Silver Spring, Maryland Exit.  Die-Hard Silver Springers and native residents will tell you they hate it when anyone makes Silver Spring plural.  That extra S drives a lot of us crazy (especially when a public offical makes this FAUX PAS!) if you listen carefully to the song Stevie never uses the plural or the dreaded extra S in the song.  The only place you'll find that extra S is in the title of the song.More evidence of this legend that the song came from the beltway sign is the fact that the sign is a "blue green" color mentioned in the song. A lot of other people believe this legend.                    ...
