Southern Maryland has a long history of tobacco farming.  Tobacco barns are structures that were used in the process of air-curing tobacco.   In the early 2000s Maryland instituted programs to discourage tobacco growth.  This has left many tobacco barns throughout the region that are no longer being utilized. I first became fascinated by these tobacco barns when watching my husband play golf on Oak Creek Golf course in Upper Marlboro, MD.  The golf course cart path actually runs directly through one of these historic structures.   As I as driving through Calvert County, MD I was amazed at all the absolutely beautiful tobacco barns that were all around.  These tobacco barns are an integral part of Maryland history and unfortunately, they are in differing stages of disrepair.   Stay tuned...

Marlborough Day is an annual street festival held in Historic Upper Marlboro.  The festival is held each year on the Saturday immediately before mother's day.  This year, the festival will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 10am-5pm. Marlborough day kicks off with a parade at 10am.  Throughout the day there will be performers, arts & crafts, vendors, food, moonbounce, library sale, and much more. Marlborough Day is a great way to spend some quality time with the family or to pick up some last minute mother's day gifts.

All Community Development Administration (CDA) loan products have fixed interest rates and are available with down payment and closing cost assistance. CDA loans are for owner occupants who are first time homebuyers.  In certain target geographical areas the buyer does not need to be a first time homebuyer and the purchase price limits are higher.  Townhomes, detached & semi-deatached homes, and condos are eligible for CDA funding. Borrowers will be required to attend Homebuyer Education Workshops. EXIT Advance Realty Meet and Greet Networking Event-THE AFTER PARTY VIDEO at 8500 Westphalia Rd Upper Marlboro MD 20772. It was very nice. Didn't get to speak to my boy AKIL WALKER-Sorry Akil. Me along with my Broker was talking to a broker who I invited. Anyway what made me record this video was when I saw my Broker Thurman Battle started dancing. That shocked me. He is the old man in the gray suit. And Mr.Calvin Crawl was having a good time too. He is the old young man in the black sweater and gray slacks. And he just turned 70 this week. Pray that I can dance like that (Or move for that matter) like him when I am 70. I am exactly half his age. Glad I had my camera phone on me. After I had my son I decided I wanted to get back into shape.  I hired a personal trainer and began my quest to "bring sexy back".  There was only one small problem, I kept getting dizzy while I was exercising.  Naturally, my trainer was concerned and insisted I see a doctor. I went to my doctor and since I had, had an episode of vertigo in the past they decided to throw the test book at me.  I had CAT scans, MRIs, stress tests, and pulmonary function tests.  All was well with my heart but they found abnormalities on my CAT scans and brain MRIs.  They were batting around different diagnoses at the time: brain tumor, migraine headache scars, lupus, sarcoidosis, lyme disease, and multiple sclerosis.  To say I was overwhelmed is putting it mildly.  I did more tests including a spinal tap a...

I cannot believe that daylight savings time is around the corner.  I was caught completely off-guard when my daughter reminded me that this the weekend that we Spring forward.  I figured I can't be the only person who didn't realize that the change was coming so soon. Remember to set your clocks forward one hour at 2am on Sunday, March 13, 2011. This is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Remember this means that Spring can't be far.

Looking for something to do with the kids this weekend? The Kid"s Fun Fair & Traveling Zoo will be at the Show Place Arena Upper Marlboro, Maryland February 26th and 27th. Over 125 different animals are scheduled to be on display including a 100 pound rat. A must see to believe! Pony and Camel rides are on the menu. Question:  What's the difference between a short sale and a foreclosure?   Answer:  I get this question all the time.  Many people are confused about the difference.   A foreclosure is a home that it now owned by a bank.  The price has been set by the listing agent and the asset manager at the bank.  A foreclosure can usually close in 30-60 days.  Most foreclosures are as-is sales.
