Local Food:  Support the local economy, environment, and your own wallet all at once! How many times do you get a chance to do all of these things and get some yummy produce at the same time?  Here in Maine, and especially in the Lewiston/Auburn area we have access to many sources of locally grown sustainable food as well as many food service providers.  Frequenting our locally owned and operated food producers keeps more of our hard earned money in our local economy.  It helps the environment by encouraging and rewarding sustainable practices and by not having the costs and impact of food that travels great distances. At Blackie's Farm Fresh Produce, you get the added benefit of better prices than the grocery chains!  I begin my series on local food with the veggies and one of my favo...
