A tip from "Pliska's Social Media Tips" in the November 2012 Issue of  The Counselor - A newsletter of the Counselors of Real Estate of the National Association of Realtors   EVEN FACEBOOK CAN GENERATE BUSINESS   Many people use Facebook, thinking it's too   “social” for business purposes, or more for the   younger generation. But Facebook can be used to   obtain business. It is still the biggest social media   venue, with one billion users. One big plus for   Facebook is that it’s helpful in generating “warm” calls.   Many sales books and training advocate the premise   that you need to know your client extremely well—children,   vacations, relatives, likes, dislikes, sports, birthdays,   graduations, weddings, etc. Facebook provides   that opportunity. As customers become more educated in the buying, selling, and refinancing process (which they should be) I've noticed that my potential clients are shopping my rates more and more over my service and products offered. Now either this is because they are trying to save their customers money in the deal or they are trying to make more on their end... I'm not entirely sure which one it is but, I am going to hope that it is the first theory. I guess in the end it benefits the customer either way which is a win win for all seeing that the name of the game is follow up and repeat business including a river of referrals so, I am not too worried about it but, I just wanted to bring to folks attention and ask: Is this the new norm? Is this our industry now? Are we a fee based, fee driven industr...

Have you thought about your ASK at a Networking Event? Wondered Why you don't get the referrals that you Deserve? Keith Stonehouse - Franklin Title Agency Tue, Oct 23, 2012 3:28 PM Have you thought about your "ask" today? You should have atleast one every week. So, as you know - I have done some networking to build my brand, my client base, my referral partners, and ultimately my company - As a Title Insurance Company my networking differs from that of a Realtor or Mortgage Loan Officer who market mostly direct to the end consumer (the buyer, the borrower, the seller, and the investor) So... here are some pointers today on simplifying your ASK at a networking event and or group in the future ...wait! You do network right? Assuming so, carry on...   Today at Motor City Connect live in Do...

Realtors: Are you challenged everyday by working with the mortgage company you are currently providing your buyers to? Maybe they are not providing all the products and services needed? Maybe their response times are slowly fading? Maybe their approvals seem to be taking longer and longer? Well, if that's the case - Remember, my clients are NOT ONLY Realtors but, Mortgage Loan Officers & Mortgage Companies / Banks as well. I'd love to line you up with one of my Great Loan Officers to better your business today. If the Loan Officer makes the buyers / borrowers happy - You look like the All-Star = Future Referrals!   I'd love to be of assistance,   Keith Stonehouse Franklin Title Agency keith@franklintitleagency.com 248-894-4785

Proof That Things Can Always Get Better - A Ten Year Span I am reporting on S.E. Michigan as I create new business from town to town. I own a few businesses and do a lot of online promotion. My focus is to find new and upcoming areas and neighborhoods. I write about restaurants and bars that cater to young people. Occasionally I assist these businesses to become even better. That is how I find myself in these depressed neighborhoods. Birmingham was always old but not nearly as trendy as it is today. It is a welcomed sigh of relief. The town itself was never junky until recently. As the city begins to attract the affluent we are met with several challenges. Old Woodward Avenue has had classic clothing stores, jewerly stores and has kept its charm. The smaller streets behind the main stre...

It can happen quickly.   An expensive car repair, an unexpected hospital visit, a missed week of work – just a few little things and the life you’ve worked so hard to build can feel like it’s tipping dangerously out of balance.  Once the scales turn against you, it can feel like it is impossible to ever tip them back in your favor again. When your financial problems reach the point where they threaten your home, it is difficult to manage the stress. Sometimes it is even difficult to force yourself to seek help. As a real estate professional who has earned the Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designation, my mission is to provide financially-challenged homeowners with options to foreclosure, ensure that they steer clear of scams, and help navigate them through the solution th...

Using Quotes to Achieve Success in Business, Investment, Residential and Commercial Real Estate – Part V   By: Robert J. Pliska, CRE, CPA   Investment, residential and commercial real estate and business in general has been trying in the last few years. An area that may help you as a real estate owner, investor and/or broker/advisor is to improve your attitude and your mental psych as we progress to the road to recovery.  A way to do this is to latch on to a few quotes that you feel appropriate to keep your enthusiasm up, provide momentum to get through a crisis, add a little humor to a difficult situation, use to close the next deal, provide impetus for a good return on your investment and any other way you see appropriate.  This has helped many as investment and commercial real esta...
