Friends, last week we reported on my friend Kattrina and her loft situation...."My good friend had an unfortunate event happen to her yesterday in her Detroit loft. A pipe upstairs from her burst and flooded her entire loft with unimaginable and unfixable damage to her belongings ranging from her Memory foam mattress & electronics to clothing. Unfortunately her slumlord/landlord told her there is nothing they can do for her. To help her get back on her feet, any little amount will help. She lost absolutely everything except for the clothes on her back and her dog!"I am bringing this to your attention because this is something that every neighborhood going through gentrification must face. This past weekend my wife and I journeyed over to downtown Detroit to meet some friends at the renaissance center on the pier, near Greektown.  This building is a big beautiful piece of architecture, and it overlooks the channel between Detroit and Canada.  In fact you can look across the water and see the Canadian side.  It was a beautiful day, and we had a wonderful dinner with an unusual backdrop of large feighters, ferry boats, water skiiers and coast guard boats skirting through the channel.   It was a great day, and we really enjoyed seeing all the activity of people walking around the area.  The downtown district has a lot to offer in terms of entertainment, and it was the first time I had been back there since I went to a atate Realtor convention in January. 08/09/2011
