Two years ago I attended the Funky Ferndale Art Fair and stayed on the West side of Woodward along 9 mile. While I knew something what going on across the street just south of 9 mile, I never ventured over. This year I was previewing some homes in the neighborhood and started at the DIY Street Fair on East Troy Street, east of Woodward Avenue and south of Nine Mile Road The DIY definitely delivered on the promise “twice as funky as the average fine art show”. The weather was a bit iffy and I almost didn’t go but there was really great attendance and certainly represented the vibrant community of Ferndale.
