The Fallasburg Arts & Crafts Festival was just a few weeks ago at the end of September. I published a post about it and I sure hope you got an opportunity to attend. It was a gorgeous weekend here in Western Michigan. We had temperatures in the high 70's and sitting  in the sun, it felt more like 85 degrees. I will try to give you a synopsis of the Festival in case you didn't make it to this premier Arts & Crafts Festival here in Kent County.  My brief video is a tour of some of the highlights:   There is lots of parking in a vacant adjacent field, where traffic is coming and goingall weekend.  We made a few stops on the way, as garage sales and tag sales are a big attraction for all the traffic  heading to the Festival. The huge stone arches mark the entrance to the park.  The booths a...

I love the Pre-Fall Season. Here in Michigan, the days are usually warm, 60-70 degrees, with a slight nip in the breeze. It gets colder at night but when the sun is shining, it is perfect weather.  At the zenith of this season,  comes the Fallasburg Fall Festival in Lowell, Michigan. It is held at Kent County's Fallasburg Park off Lincoln Lake Road north of Lowell. This is a large, rambling park with a shelter house, one of 2 wooden covered wooden  bridges in Kent County, and rolling hills full of trees and park settings. Very pretty, very scenic, a perfect place to have a festival of the arts.  The Lowell Area Arts Council holds their Fallasburg Fall Festival here in late September. This year is the 40th festival celebrating arts & crafts. I have been going since the crowds were thin a...

Lowell Showboat Sizzling Summer Concerts Lowell MI 2008 Free Concerts Lowell is a pretty little city on the Flat River just east of Ada and Grand Rapids. In fact, it takes us about twenty minutes to drive there, which we do quite often. There are several little places to get a bite to eat and they have the lowest prices for movie tickets in the area, but that  is another blog.     This article is about the Lowell ShowBoat Sizzling Summer  Concert Series. Every Thursday night this summer, there is a free concert from 7 to 9pm at the Riverwalk in Lowell on the Showboat stage.  The concerts are wheelchair accessible, free parking, there is bleacher seating or bring your own chair.  The Flat River Grill is offering food and a cash bar, as well as other vendors along the Riverwalk plaza.    ...

There are many properties for sale with acreage.  If you have been considering purchasing that dream home with acres to roam, now might be a great time to buy.  Prices have continued to come down over the past several months and maybe what used to be, not in your price range may now be actually quite affordable.

Hello to all who may be interested.  Today, 12-13-07 is the first day for me of what is said to be an explosion of what is about to come with this type of advanced technology - bloggng.  A note to myself to be able to look back on:  good wishes and the best of luck as you begin to tread unfamiliar territory and stretch to areas outside of the comfort zone.  May all your dreams come true and may this be an avenue to fairly express yourself to a group of people who appreciate my dedication and cmmitment to helping others achieve their goals with buying and selling property and homes.  I want to thank Steve for sharing this information with a room full of us today, for without his wealth of resources he so graciously turned over to us today, I would not be right here in front of you at thi...

If you live where spring flowering bulbs enchant the landscape, now is the perfect time to plant some color.  Who can resist a home with drifts of tulips or daffodils welcoming them to the front door?My favorite bulb is a mini-daffodil named Tete a Tete.  (Photo from the Breck's web site.)  It's a cheerful early bloomer that's about 6 inches tall.  Its petite size and short stem prevent it from flopping over after a rain.  You won't have to cope with butt-ugly dying leaves until 4th of July, either.  The leaves just disappear after the blooms die.Bulbs have the greatest impact when planted in large groups, 50 or more.  They look worst when they're lined up single file like soldiers.  Follow the store's guide for the depth of the planting hole.  It varies with the size/type of the bulb. ...
