The number of new listings increased a bit in Blaine, Minnesota through 2010 as did the average sales price. Blaine’s high valued home market in prices $500,000 showed a bit of movement this year and lender mediated foreclosure/short sale homes in the lower price points that worked their way through the system didn’t affect the average sales price as drastically as in the past two years. Closed sales are down for Blaine in 2010 over 2009 but real estate is continuing to sell. Listings are not staying on the market as long as in previous years with an average market time of 112 days. Blaine has sold through most of its current home inventory as it was an affordable option for buyers in the north metro homebuyer. With low levels of inventory in the lower price points, 2010 might be the y...

At the New Year’s Eve comedy show at the Ham Lake VFW a few days ago, Scott Hansen quipped that with all the new bridges and overpasses on Hwy 65, you can just blow past Blaine now…But why would you want to? The community of Blaine, Minnesota has transformed over the past decade. Just drive down Highway 65 and see the Main Street (125th) overpass as well as several others and all of the new retail establishments, restaurants and even residential properties to get an idea of how the changes have affected the community. Though housing construction slowed during 2010, it has not completely stopped. New developments have continued to expand the housing base, especially in the townhome and lower level price points. Conveniently located along 35W and Highway 65 and connected by Highway 10 ju...

Today is the second open house I have scheduled for my latest listing and the second time we have had significant snow that same day. Today is by far worse as we have 2 foot snow drifts on my sidewalk. I think I will reschedule this open and work towards setting up more snow when I reschedule.   It sure is pretty though...

I hope everyone is OK after the wicked storm that just blew through Blaine MN. After the storm, just about sunset, I snapped this with my cell phone.  By the time I was able to get my actual camera out, the moment had passed.  This photo doesn't even do it justice.  The sky was so bright orange, it looked like it was on fire.               It wasn't but a few moments later when I got this shot.  You can see the bright color starting to fade.  Then after about a minute or so, it was gone.           Send this to your Friends or Family

2010 Women's Olympic Hockey Silver Medal Winner: Kerry Weiland, #23Kerry is a client who became a friend.  I helped her find a place to live while she was training here in Blaine Minnesota at the Schwan Super Rink in the National Sports Center for about a year and a half leading up to the 2010 Olympics.  She was one of the most interesting and fun clients I have ever had.  I am so glad to be able to help her.  This photos was taken a few weeks after the Olympics.  I invited her to go out so we could catch up and celebrate her Silver Medal.  We had a great time and I got to hold a real Olympic Silver Medal in my hands!  What a thrill to know and work with someone as awesome as Kerry!  However, to my dismay, we forgot to get a photo with Christina Sorbara who is Kerry's friend, companion,...
