Here is a wonderful photo taken by my husband from our deck. Early morning moon over the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness Area.  A-Peak  stands tall with the large moon just over head. Did you know that Lake Koocanusa's  name came from a combination of three words? Koo   from Kootenai (it is the Kootenai River)  CAN  from Canada (the lake is 90 miles long and 30 of that is in Canada) USA from -United State of America.(okay-you got that one figured out) I believe it was from a naming contest that a little older woman from Eureka Mt named the lake. May I just say -- Great JOB!  The lake is 90 miles long and is formed from the Libby Dam about 17 miles North of Libby. It boast unoccupied boating areas where you see very few other boaters and miles and miles of fresh water salmon fishing, rainbow, and lake trout. We see bald eagles soaring, we see Moose munching with their young, even the elusive cougar has been seen dashing across an old logging road. So why write this blog? What a River! I thought that I would share some relaxing photos of the river here in north western Montana.The Kootenai River originates in Canada and flows into the US in NW corner of Montana then loops through asmall area of Idaho and goes back North to Canada to end up in the Kootenai Lakes. Sometimes know as the headwaters of the Columbia River. 03/08/2009
