I know that there is not a lot of positive reporting in the media for the housing market.  But believe it or not now is a great time to buy.  Especially in this area the pricing for new homes remains low and there are so many homes to choose from that it makes it a true buyers market.  The rates are truly at an all time low 4.75%.  Yes, you did see 4.75%!  So anyone who has been putting off the decision to buy now is the time to call for a FREE prequalification and find out how much house you can afford to buy.  If you are renting than you certainly are eligible to qualify.  Also if you close before 12-31-08 and are a first time homebuyer you may be eligible to up to $7500 for a tax credit when you file 2008 taxes.  Now is the time to buy! The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Christmas in Cleveland event this Thursday, December 4th from 6-8pm.  Please feel free to come out to the event held in the parking lot of the First Citizens Bank at 4042 off of Glen Rd. There will be vendors with FREE crafts and games for the kids. Our widely received toy drive is returning and Santa has asked that you bring an unwrapped toy to help our military families. A soldier from Fort Bragg will be on hand to accept the gifts and return them to the base for distribution.  Santa will also be available for pictures with the kids! Our Home Inspector in Clayton NC inspected another home in zip 27520. This one did not have any serious concerns but lots of little things. During the home inspection, we found: insulation in the attic that was not thick enough to meet the required R-value, dishwasher that would not completely fill with water and was noisy (did not run it), water was too hot (burn potential), dripping water supply pipe at a toilet (wetting a wood floor), roof ridge cap that was not flat (can allow water to enter the attic), brocken seal between window panes, and several more. Our client was happy she paid to have a Home Inspection done as it paid for itself many times over. 12/01/2008

I cannot begin to say enough great things about a local website developed to keep the community informed of upcoming events, local news, and just about anything else that goes on in our area.  Two of the most popular features would have to be the Discussion Group & Classifieds.  The classifieds are our own little version of craigslist and the discussion group, well it speaks for itself most days.  I am very thankful to discuss local & national events & news with fellow members of my community.  Some of which I have had the pleasure to meet, others I hope to meet one day.    If you live in the Johnston County area this is a website you must visit.  Many of my clients have visited this website to get information about the area before moving here.  This is by far my FAVORITE local site! 11/20/2008

Thanks to all our police, soldiers, fire fighters etc.  I was sitting at the light at 42 & Cleveland School this afternoon when I noticed a truck sitting in the turn lane had caught fire.  The men in the truck and everyone around took off running (as we would all do).  Not a minute later I see a HP emerge from his car and run towards the vehicle with a fire extinguisher to put out the flanes.  It occured to me that most of us will always run away from scary/dangerous situations while these brave men & women run in to ensure our safety.So thank you! 11/05/2008

  Yesterday, I had an appointment in Clayton, NC. While I was there, I decided to drive downtown to catch a glimpse of the little ones who were lined up and eager to trick-or-treat down Main Street. The road was already blocked when I arrived, but I did have the opportunity to see several mermaids, Spiderman, a really muscular blue guy (not sure of his name), an Indian princess, blue-haired twins and a few other cute characters.   Established in 1770, Clayton, NC is a small town in Johnston County. As you can see from the photographs, downtown Clayton is much the same today as it has been for many generations. Most of the buildings were constructed between 1890 and 1960. Responding to the News & Observer: Stacey Anfindsen Shares More Accurate Depiction of Market and Five Reasons Not to Panic Over Local Home Prices   In response to the main headline in the 10/27/08 N&O, I am presenting facts to contradict the headline, which is yet another attempt to scare local readers by using data from selected national sources. The writer states five reasons; crashing home prices, investor speculation, complex investments, job losses and repeat delinquencies. Johnston County is hurting a little bit.  This is due in part to the large amounts of development that went on in 2007.  It was over developed with higher priced homes. With prices coming down in areas closer to Raleigh, it is hard to get buyers into Johnston county.  Clayton is the lightly shining light in Johnston county right now. It is the most desired place to live in this county overall.
